- Quiet, family-friendly site that straddles the Céou river
- On the edge of Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park
- Top spot for fishing, hiking and cycling
Let your troubles flow away with a stay at Camping Les Rives du Céou, a site that straddles the Céou river two kilometres from the village of Saint-Chamarand in the Occitanie region of the south of France.
On the banks of the Céou river, Les Rives is a top spot for fishing – cast a line and see if you can land some trout. If fishing isn’t what reels you in, Les Rives is on the edge of Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park and the area is a top spot for explorers: follow one of the many walking or cycling trails in the park and keep an eye out for lizards and falcons.
At the site, you can knock a few boules around in pétanque, play a few games on the tennis court or go head-to-head in a ping pong tournament… then cool off in the on-site pool. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a snack before heading to the bar to unwind.
A small grocery store on site should keep you in essentials and, for everything else, the nearest shop is less than five minutes away in Saint-Germain-du-Bel-Air. Breakfast, bread, pastries and ice creams are available on site, and there's also on-site catering for more substantial meals, with such tasty things as Rocamadour sandwiches and duck confit.

Local attractions
There’s more to Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park than trails and birdwatching: explore the Lot river and the Célé valley in a canoe or kayak, dive below the ground for caving and treasure hunts in the dark, brave the heights with a spot of cliff climbing or head to the centre of the park for some dark-skies stargazing.
Rocamadour, built on a cliff face above the Alzou river 30 minutes’ drive from Les Rives, is a must-see: climb the Grand Escalier to reach the religious site that made Rocamadour a place of pilgrimage, then climb a bit further – the prettiness of the village is only rivalled by the views you’ll have once you reach its highest point.
While you’re in the area, pay a visit to some of the spectacular caves near Rocamadour, to view the ancient cave paintings at Grotte Préhistorique des Merveilles or explore the underground waterways of Gouffre de Padirac. The stunning villages of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and La Roque-Gageac are both within 45 minutes’ drive of Les Rives and have many swish houses and gardens to visit.
For a break from caves and villages, meet the wild and domestic animals of Europe at the Animal Park of Gramat, a 25-minute drive from the site, or take a trip on the Martel steam train, 40 minutes away.
