  • Family-friendly site in the Aubrac Natural Regional Park
  • In St Geniez d'Olt et d'Aubrac with direct access to the river Lot
  • Cycle hire, a food shop and sports areas on site
Staying on the pitches at Camping La Boissière comes with quite a few perks… First and foremost, the site has direct access to the river Lot, where you're welcome to go fishing (with a licence) or kayaking and canoeing. Second, it's within the gorgeous, green Aubrac Natural Regional Park, an area that's full of excellent rural hiking and cycling trails – rent a bicycle directly from the site if you're not already planning to arrive with your own pair of wheels. This Aveyron site is in the Lot Valley town of St Geniez d'Olt et d'Aubrac, between the Causses and Aubrac (40 minutes' drive). Restaurants and shops are just a 15-minute walk away from base, although you don't need to go that far for something delicious to eat in July and August, as that's when the on-site restaurant (complete with takeaway options) is open. Make use of the site's splendid facilities too: the aquatic centre (open during high season only) has a large pool, a paddling pool, a whirlpool bath and a hot tub. When you're in the mood for some sports, head to the dedicated sports area for football, volleyball and basketball. The team also puts on entertainment and activities for kids during July and August. That's not the end of the amenities at Camping La Boissière, though. There are loos, showers and a launderette to take care of practical matters, as well as a food shop.

Local attractions

There's a fair bit to do around these parts, whether it's horse riding at the centre three kilometres away (five minutes' drive) or going hiking and cycling in the surrounding Aubrac Natural Regional Park. There are so many pretty towns and villages within driving distance too, whether it's Espalion (35 minutes), Bozouls (half an hour) or Sévérac-d'Aveyron (half an hour)… First up, Bozouls? This village sits atop of a tall gorge formed by the river Dourdou de Conques, making it a dramatic scene indeed. Around the gorge and village, there are hiking trails, bridges and many old buildings worthy of a place in your photo albums. Espalion is along the river Lot, much like Camping La Boissière, and well-liked for the Château de Calmont d'Olt (35 minutes), a medieval castle 535 metres above sea level, with views back down over the Lot valley and Espalion. That just leaves Sévérac-d'Aveyron, a medieval town set around the ruins of Château de Sévérac.
