It's free, quick and easy!
- Between the Périgord and the Auvergne
- Direct access to a white and sandy lakeside beach
- Covered and heated pool, tennis, kids' club and bike hire
How sweet is this? For not only is Corrèze's Camping Lac de Miel in an exceptionally excellent locale between the Périgord and the Auvergne, it has direct access to the white and sandy beach of the Honey Lake that sits right next to the site.
This is a most handsome place to base oneself for a watery and watersports-filled French stay, as Lac de Miel is set in preserved natural surroundings on 42 hectares of vegetation and water, in a place for placid sandcastle building, sand basking and forgetting all about matters such as work. (Naturellement, a lot of local gastronomy is around to be sampled too.)
The lake has lifeguard surveillance in high season and guests can tackle pursuits like canoeing and kayaking (boats can be hired for a small fee) as well as diving from the lake board and whizzing down the slide on the lake's edge. There's disabled access so the lake is accessible to all who visit.
Splashing around is also possible at the covered and heated pool, or you can dip into activities such as beach volleyball, mini golf, tennis at the two courts, boules, rugby and table tennis. A playground is on hand too, along with a kids' club for ages five to 13.
Once/if it's time to leave the lake and dry off, bikes can be hired at the site to pedal off exploring into the local countryside.

Local attractions
The tiny and ancient clifftop village of Rocamadour is a must if you're in this region: it's been a place of pilgrimage for centuries and these days is almost as famed for its monkey forest La Forêt des Singes and its local cheese.
Heritage holidaymakers can hunt down Limousin history highlights like the castles in Curemonte, the hilltop town of Turenne or the ruins of the Tours de Merle, which had a rocking seven castles on site in the fourteenth century.
If you'd like to visit more watery locations, make for the town of Tulle and its surrounding rivers and lakes, or go to find the underground river and caves of Gouffre de Padirac. Many waterfalls tumble down around the area surrounding Camping Lac de Miel too.
