  • Quiet family site on the banks of the Rhône in Vallabrègues
  • Avignon, Nîmes and the Camargue within an hour's drive
  • Next to a tennis court, skate park and lots of fishing spots
Get set for varied days out around Camping Lou Vincen, a short stroll from the banks of the Rhône river in the village of Vallabrègues. You’d do well to plan plenty of days in this pretty part of Provence – some for relaxed river-based days of fishing, canoeing or rambling, some for pottering in the area’s fab markets... and some for venturing a little further to explore Avignon and Nîmes, visit the Pont du Gard and ramble around the Camargue Regional Natural Park. And possibly it’s not a bad idea to schedule in some time to chill out around the site too (you are on hols after all, and thus deserving of downtime). Install the small sorts at the playground or the next-door skate park, or settle by the pool for a sunbathe. There are plenty of shaded siesta spots around too for those seeking a cooler corner, and a tennis court just next to the site for more active types. Snacks and drinks can be sorted at the site’s snack bar; for more substantial fare it’s just a five-minute amble into the village for a small selection of restaurants, bars and shops. Loads of fab foodie treats can be snaffled at those markets too; have a chat with the friendly folks on site for details of days, times and where to pick up the best bits.

Local attractions

Bring your rod if you fancy a bit of fishing, and take your pick from spots along the Rhône river, the canal and the nearby Vallabrègues lake. Site staff can also advise on walking routes nearby, and point you in the direction of canoe hire if you’d like to paddle part of the river. Further scenic strolls, hikes and bike rides can be had within a 40-minute drive in the limestone mountains of the Alpilles Regional Natural Park or the wetlands of the Camargue Regional Natural Park (keep your eyes peeled for the famed flamingoes and wild horses). For more watery days out, it’ll take you just over an hour to reach the coast or half an hour to hit Splashworld waterpark. A bit of town time is highly recommended, too – Avignon is a 20-minute drive away, and Uzès, Nîmes and Arles are all less than an hour away for days spent wandering around medieval streets, visiting Roman sites and feasting on local treats.
