- Quiet, shaded municipal campsite five minutes' walk from Trèves
- Grotte de Dargilan 25 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to Mont Aigoual
- Playground, pétanque and tennis on site; river fishing in the village
With the Cévennes National Park on one side and the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park on the other, the pretty little Gard village of Trèves makes an excellent base for an active outdoor holiday.
About five minutes’ walk from the village centre is its municipal campsite, Camping Le Trévezel, a quiet and shaded spot that welcomes families, couples and solo travellers (and any accompanying dogs) looking to explore this scenic part of the world.
Fitting nicely into its green surroundings, this is a peaceful site rather than one with lots of noisy entertainments. All the essentials are sorted, though, as you’ll have access to a launderette, a wifi service, a chemical disposal point and toilet/shower facilities. A playground and pétanque court are on site, and there’s a tennis court and football pitch just over the road for a bit of easy activity.
Over in the village, a café and restaurant are on hand for times when you'd like to eat out; there's also a shop where you can pick up supplies for the barbecue area and picnic tables back on site. The Trévezel river runs through the village, with access for swimming and trout fishing, and you’ll be able to access several hiking trails nearby, either from the village or in the local area. Mountain biking, climbing and caving are all available in the area too, and Mont Aigoual is about 40 minutes' drive away.
