If Eure off for a quick flit – or a peaceful couple of weeks – in Upper Normandy and looking for a watery base in green green surroundings, Camping Risle-Seine Les Étangs in the Risle valley should very much fit the bill.
It's a lakeside campsite on the estuary where the Seine river meets the English Channel, in a scenic setting but with easy access to Normandy's main attractions and a heap of activities like hiking, cycling and fishing: fishing near the site in the river Risle is free of charge, and six fishing ponds filled with roach, pike, carp and trench are only 50 metres from the site.
The campsite is 20km from the city of Honfleur, and only a couple of kilometres from the village of Pont-Audemer. The D-Day landing beaches as well as Pont de Normandie and Cabourg are within a short drive.
The Camping Risle-Seine Les Étangs pool is open from May to September and guests can also make use of the site playground, ping pong table, football table and trampoline. Part of the campsite is accessible to guests with disabilities.
Camping Risle-Seine Les Étangs also has spacious amenities blocks with showers and toilets.

The site is well set for exploring the region and its attractions and activities: kayaking, canoeing, walking and cycling are all popular in the area and a golf course and a watersports centre are a short distance away.
Close to the site is the village of Pont-Audemer, right on the Isle river and a good snapshotting spot for its half-timbered buildings lined up along the water.
Within 20km is Honfleur, set on the southern banks of the Seine and mostly known for its pretty old port, so handsome that artists like Courbet, Monet and Boudin have all wielded brushes here (yes, this is where the Honfleur school of art originated).
Also within a short drive are the Pont de Normandie, Deauville, Cabourg, Etretat, the D-Day landing beaches, Rouen and Caen.
