Would you like to stay at a peaceful green site surrounded by lovely natural scenery and with river views? Or do you prefer the convenience of a village location so you can be in easy reach of shops and other amenities? Or how about both options rolled into one excellent location? If that sounds appealing, take a look at Camping Les Saules de Cormery, a small private site in a quiet green spot on the edge of the Indre river in Cormery. Pitches here are tucked away among the trees, so there's a peaceful atmosphere and plenty of shade – plus a good amount of space to sit and relax among the trees and plants. It might feel as though you’re out in the countryside here, but in fact you're just on the edge of the village, only a few minutes' walk away from a bar, restaurant, bakery, delicatessen and small supermarket. Leisure facilities are on hand too – tennis courts, pétanque courts and a playground are all within a short walk. The Cyclo Bohème (L'Indre à Vélo) route passes right past the site and there are plenty of walking routes nearby as well for a taste of the surrounding scenery. Fancy exploring further afield? The cities of Tours and Loches are within a half-hour drive, as are Loire Valley hotspots like Château de Chenonceau. The village has a bus stop where you can pick up services to the cities and other local destinations. Back at base, all the essentials are covered – you'll have access to toilets, hot showers, a fridge, a washing machine, an electric stove and water services for motorhomes.

A lovely, quiet spot, with plenty of room and shade. The owner's a gem, the facilities are spotless, and the bar's a good shout. Great base for the Loire Valley, Tours nearby. A bit of road noise mentioned, but overall, top marks from everyone.

Liked Vriendelijke eigenaar die zich flexibel opstelde bij het kiezen van een plek.
Een heel groene camping met ruime plaatsen. Veel ruimte op het nabijgelegen veldje om te spelen voor de kinderen en een heerlijk verkoelend beekje om te zwemmen en in af te koelen.
Het sanitair was prima. Handige plek om de sanitairtank te legen en water bij te vullen. Er was zelfs een kleine snacktent waar een ijsje gekocht kon worden
Wij waren op doortocht, dus het was geen langdurig verblijf. De kinderen waren er graag een dagje langer gebleven.

Liked Friendly owner. Very attentive. Spacious pitches. Very clean & well organised. Free & workable wifi.

Disliked Limited bar/snacks. Not really an issue for us & it really didn't spoil our stay.

Liked Lovely setting beneath willow trees, near a river. Not too many pitches so very peaceful. Couple of mins walk into the town to buy a coffee and pastry. Clean (unisex) facilities. Snack shop currently being set up by Roman is a great addition. Good beer and wine. Also offering pizza but we didn’t have chance to try. Good WiFi.

Disliked Road noise a little loud in the mornings but to be expected as so close to a town.

Liked Superbehulpzame eigenaar, in alles werd voorzien! Als fietser met alleen een tent werd er een stoel en tafel bij mijn tent gereed gezet. Er was een grote overdekte plaats waar ook telefoons konden worden opgeladen, perfecte wifi, er is een waterkoker, magnetron en kookplaat, en ik kon een pomp lenen voor mijn lekke band. Van alle gemakken voorzien dus, inclusief in de avond een klein barretje voor drankjes.

Liked We were greeted on arrival by the very friendly , helpful owner. Lovely site with lots of shade from some beautiful willow trees. Within easy reach of river walks and town. Very clean and up together showers and toilets.

Liked A lovely peaceful stay close to the river and the village. The host was excellent, friendly and informative. He spoke excellent English and could not be more helpful. Facilities are great, very clean and modern. The pitches are situated within mature willow trees and provide good shade. Dog friendly too but we did keep ours on a long lead.
One of the best campsites we have ever visited and would definitely come again if we are in this area. A great coffee in the village in a small restaurant close to the main bridge to start your day and a couple of shops to get your obligatory baguette. 20 minutes from Tours or Loches and there is a supermarket just up the road.

Local attractions

It makes sense to start local – so your first visit should probably be to the Abbaye de Cormery (five minutes’ walk), a Benedictine abbey also known as Saint-Paul Abbey. That’s just one of the area’s fine historic buildings – for more, make tracks to the gorgeous Renaissance architecture of Château de Chenonceau (25 minutes’ drive) and the classic turrets of Château de Montrésor (35 minutes). There are plenty of lovely buildings to seek out in Tours (20 minutes) too, including the cathedral, Charlemagne Tower and Hôtel de Ville; the city also has a couple of excellent museums to visit. A wander through Loches (25 minutes) is equally rewarding – this 'Town of Art and History’ has medieval streets, a traditional market and some pretty gardens. Take some time to explore the countryside too – perhaps heading to Chemillé-sur-Indrois (half an hour) to tackle the treetop course at Clic'Lac Terre d’Aventures before taking a dip in the lake, or hiring canoes for a day of paddling along the Loire.
