- Within easy reach of watersports at Pointe de la Torche

Sliding, bubbling, soaking and snoozing are all served up in spades at the pools of this well-appointed family site, settled snugly in the countryside and less than 10 minutes’ pootle from the beautest of beaches around the Pays Bigouden area.
Your hosts Brigitte and Pascal have set Camping Les Genêts up splendidly for family stays, among lush green grounds and with facilities like a pool area, sports courts and kids’ playthings on hand to keep guests of all ages entertained for weeks.
Two pool areas are on site: the outdoor pool is kitted out with a paddling pool with water games, three waterslides, massage jets, a whirlpool and a water umbrella and waterfall to splash around under, and the covered indoor pool (with retractable roof) has a spa pool and a solarium alongside for max relaxation factor.
And for entertainment out of the water? There’s a table tennis area, a beach volleyball court and a pétanque pitch, plus for the tiddlers there’s a play area with a wee climbing frame, swings, a bouncy castles and a trampoline.
In July and August the team organises kids' club activities for tadpoles aged between five and 12 years, and afternoon sports tournaments are held twice weekly for teens. And the entertainment’s not just for younger peeps: pétanque competitions and morning aquagym sessions are held for adult activity seekers, and a program of lively evening entertainment like dances, karaoke nights, concerts, quiz nights and magic shows are put on for all the family.

Local attractions
There’s lots to visit around this cracking coastal and countryside locale, the first of which should surely be the Phare d'Eckmühl, one of the tallest lighthouses in the world. If you’re partial to your poisson, next should be the vast ‘fishing city’ of Haliotika, to learn what it’s like to be a fisherman with a peek behind the scenes at one of France’s biggest fish auctions.
Active sorts should head to Pointe de la Torche, one of the fabbest of Finistère spots for watersports at the southern end of the wild Bay of Audierne, and those who wish to stick to dry land can easily access horse riding, walks and cycling trails in the immediate vicinity.
Delve into l’histoire of the Finistère region at Penmarch’s prehistory museum with a wander around exhibits of more than 3,000 archaeological artefacts, or head to the Breton market town of Pont l'Abbé to potter around its museum of costume and furniture.
