It's free, quick and easy!
- Quiet campsite a kilometre from the beach
- In the coastal town of Le Pouldu, painted by Gauguin
- Heated pool, games room, playground and free wifi
What pretty places are the site and setting of Finistère's Camping du Pouldu – and the sunsets are pretty stunning around both too.
It's a paintworthy landscape around here, as Camping du Pouldu is in the handsome little coastal town of Le Pouldu, a place so pretty that arty Gauguin and his pals stopped here for quite some time to paint its 'immense seascape'. Wander from the Maison-Musée du Pouldu where Gauguin once stayed, and along the cliffs to look out for signposts marking the places and views he painted: you might too feel the urge to break out the paintbox...
Camping du Pouldu is a kilometre from south Brittany beaches, close to snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing and other watery activities, and within easy reach of the also-paintworthy landscapes of the island of Groix.
For lying leisurely around site, du Pouldu has a heated outdoor pool, a games room with pool table and ping pong, a playground and free wifi. The snack bar open during the main summer holidays serves quick bites to have your pitch or in the garden; fresh bread delivery is available too.
Camping du Pouldu also has modern toilets and showers, disabled facilities and a launderette.

Local attractions
Take to this artistic landscape by foot to follow the signposted path of Gauguin, or take to the local waters instead for sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking, surfing or swimming from the local beaches.
To see some of the history of art in the area, the small village of Le Pouldu is now home to the Maison-Musée or House-Museum of Pouldu, following in the painty footsteps of Gauguin when he arrived in the village's La Buvette de la Plage inn. For more history, the Abbey Saint-Maurice de Carnoët is in nearby Clohars-Carnoët, two kilometres from the Castle of Kerbastic in Morbihan.
The Camping du Pouldu team also reckons that the nearby island of Groix is a must, for the moors and bird sanctuary on its west side, the red and white beaches on its east, and the 17 villages throughout. Catch the ferry running several times daily from the seaport of Lorient.
If you're around in August, the Festival Raok l'Hand close to the site has rock and electro music, other entertainment, and a market.
