  • Quiet, well-maintained Brittany campsite at Plestin-les-Grèves
  • Valley of the Saints 40 minutes’ drive; Cap Fréhel an hour and a half
  • GR34 Brittany Coast Path, beaches and shops within five minutes’ walk
One of the bonuses of outdoor holidays is the chance to take in spectacular views from your pitch… and you’re pretty much guaranteed those at Camping de la Corniche, as it overlooks the bays of Plestin-les-Grèves and Locquirec on the rugged Finistère coastline of Brittany. The peaceful clifftop site is neatly landscaped with trees, bushes and flowers, and provides all sorts of amenities to make life easy for families. Breakfast pastries and baguettes are available every morning, and you can pick up daily essentials and barbecue supplies at the on-site grocery shop. For anything else, there are shops around five minutes’ walk away. If you’re travelling with babies, hire high chairs and changing mats from reception (saves on the packing), and there’s a launderette so you can keep everyone clean. The kids might like to have a run around at the playground, and you can be on the beach within five minutes’ stroll. Direct access to the GR34 Brittany Coast Path makes Camping de la Corniche a convenient base for hikers, and it’s also pretty handy for Brittany sightseeing trips on the Côte de Granit Rose – but do try and make it back to the site one evening to catch the vivid sunset over the sea.

Man hatte freie Stellplatzwahl. Die Sanitäranlagen waren etwas " veraltet ", was uns aber nicht gestört hat, da alles war sauber war. Die Lage war für uns optimal.

Liked: Due to the location I gave this campsite 5 stars. We stayed here for 2 delightful weeks and will go back. We felt it was a very family friendly campsite. Super easy going, smiley, friendly staff who are always willing to help. One lady speaks English, the other two staff members didnt, but they were all super helpful and we always managed to get across our needs. This added to the experience and was in no way a negative. In fact it helped me to learn some more handy (polite) day to day French words :) The Big Man at reception is a very jolly fella and use to make me laugh. Even though we didnt speak each others language we would crack each other up. Hes a funny guy. The campsite is on a slope, so there are limited flat pitches. The office usually lets you choose where you want to go. But the views from these slopes (across the bay to Locquirec) were stunning !!!!!!!! You go to sleep at night to the sound of the waves and the milky way above you. Great access to many beaches (infact 2 are just 5- 10 mins away. There is a small bar onsite, which has the odd crepe or burger night. Enquire & Order at the bar. The Bar has music, which never bothered us and our tent was 2 pitches away from it. The music turns down and is usually off by 23:00pm. Order your super fresh baguette or croissant from the office the day before. Toilets are cleaned numerous times a day. We paid for and found a pitch which had electricity (bring your own cables of course) . There is a token operated washing machine. Facilites are cleaned often. Another awesome thing about this campsite (and maybe this is a French thing in general) NO ONE played music and no one was on their mobile phone (in fact, even in the local restaurants no one is using their phones, I didnt even see them on the table. This was Awesome !!!!!

Disliked: Its not really a negative because the positives of this place by far make this place so good ....but I can see this being an issue for some. There are only 3 toilets (and 3 urinals around the back). There are only 3 unisex showers. We went early or late so it wasnt too much of a problem for us. These areas re cleaned regularly. The kitchen area is clean and has 5 sinks for washing dishes plus 3 sinks for hand washing clothes if you choose. There was not hot water when washing the dishes so we lathered up the sponge with loads of washing detergent then rinsed with the luke warm water. It seemed to do the trick, but warm/hot water for washing dishes would be a plus. Wi-fi , in reality, is only reachable by the office, but we were on holiday so its no drama to go to the office once a day to check on whatsapp messages.

Local attractions

If white-sand beaches are where you want to be, you'll be pleased to hear that quiet Plage de Porz-Mellec is only 10 minutes’ walk from the pitches. It’s prime sandcastle-building territory, but if you’re feeling like a bit more action you can hire canoes and kayaks to paddle the craggy shoreline. Another family-friendly spot is Plage des Sables-Blancs (10 minutes’ drive), with a kids’ club and lifeguards in summer. Any sailors among you can hire dinghies and catamarans from the marina at Port de Locquémeau (15 minutes), and keen hikers can set off on foot to see the pink-tinged cliffs of the Côte de Granit Rose (five minutes’ walk). There are also way-marked footpaths along the beach to the bizarre rock formations at Ploumanac’h (40 minutes’ drive). More piles of boulders (this time manmade) can be found at the Barnenez Cairn (half an hour), open for tours of one of Europe’s largest Neolithic burial chambers. Coming several millennia forward in time, you can take a stroll among the monumental contemporary sculptures in the scenic Valley of the Saints (40 minutes).
