- Pretty site on the banks of the Loire, close to Pouilly-sur-Loire
- Nevers and the Guédelon castle within a 40-minute drive
- Snack bar, pétanque court and table tennis on site; dogs welcome
If you fancy a trip to the Loire Valley, well, where better to base yourselves than right there next to the river itself? Yes indeed, Camping Malaga is on the banks of the mighty River Loire itself, a little over a kilometre from the town of Pouilly-sur-Loire.
That location puts you in prime position for all sorts of things, including bike rides on the Loire à Vélo cycling route, canoe trips along the river, château outings and wine tasting. And having the town so close by also means it’s easy to find things like restaurants, bars, bakeries and shops where you can stock up on food and wine for evenings back on site.
It’s a good spot in terms of outings as well – the well-known city of Nevers is 35 minutes’ drive away, and you can reach a couple of châteaux (Guédelon and Saint-Fargeau) within 40 minutes.
This is a family-friendly and dog-friendly site, so you’ll be able to bring the whole tribe along if you like. It’s a pick-your-own-pitch setup here so you can choose the spot where you think you’ll be most comfortable – perhaps with a river view, or close to the facilities, or in a quieter corner.
Facilities here include a pétanque court and ping pong table for a bit of light entertainment, and a snack bar for those times when you don’t fancy cooking or going out. The amenities block has showers and toilets (including accessible options for guests with reduced mobility), plus a laundry area and a baby-changing area.

Local attractions
Wine enthusiasts will be in their element here – there are several wineries within Pouilly-sur-Loire and its surroundings, and you can also take a trip to Sancerre (20 minutes’ drive) to see what's on offer there.
Whether you’re focusing on wineries or just scenery, a nice way to tour the area is on the Loire à Vélo bike path, which runs alongside the river. Alternatively, you could hire canoes from the local watersports centre (five minutes) and paddle your way along the river. Looking a little further afield, you may like to take outings to riverside towns and cities like La Charité-sur-Loire (15 minutes) and Nevers (35 minutes) – both have lovely historic streets to wander through.
Of course you can’t come to this area without visiting at least one château, and the pick of the crop nearby are the 17th-century Castle of Saint-Fargeau and the intriguing Guédelon, a project aiming to create a modern version of a medieval castle using traditional methods. Both are 40 minutes' drive away.
