  • Quiet riverside site in the Côte-d'Or next to the Ouche Valley Railway
  • A 25-minute drive from Beaune, 40 from Autun and 50 from Dijon
  • Campervan service area, playground, tennis and pétanque
Train your sights on this if you're pitching up in Burgundy and like hols heavy on the heritage: Camping Les Isles, in the historical town of Bligny-Sur-Ouche, is adjacent to the old Ouche Valley Railway, established way back in 1830 and one of the oldest railways in France. The line runs from Bligny-sur-Ouche along the Ouche river, through a limestone gorge and on to the small village of Pont d'Ouche – and its five-mile journey is all most pretty indeed. Right by the railway line, Camping Les Isles is set in a quiet riverside area surrounded by flowers, nature and greenery, in the Côte-d'Or region near the cities of Beaune, Dijon and Autun. The site has free wifi, a service area for campervans, a playground with a pétanque area, tennis courts and table tennis. Pets are accepted free of charge. Shops and amenities are about 500 metres away.

Electric optional grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Stayed here a few times before, and will definitely be returning. This is a lovely, well maintained site, with grass and trees surrounding a central sanitary block. You are free to pitch wherever you choose. There is a supermarket with petrol station just minutes away. Some fabulous walks from the doorstep, and a small scenic railway adjacent to the site.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked Quiet, well kept and peaceful site with lovely staff who were very helpful and polite. Large pitches which you can choose yourself. Fantastic supermarket literally across the road which was very well stocked. Great value for money

Disliked Showers were not very powerful and would have loved some soap in the toilet area- however given how inexpensive it was I was happy to find my own!

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked Big campsite with plenty of space, clean, friendly all around, was our perfect last night to our 2 week adventure as it was easy and chilled. We had a BBQ right next to our campervan. Quiet and peaceful campsite. We arrived late but they were accomodating and waited for us but also gave instructions on how to enter in case they were gone.
Good value for money, was cheap compared to other sites.
Beautiful area and drive through the neighbouring villages on our way home.

Disliked Not really a negative as we only stayed 1 night and didn't need anything but there was no shop on site. It is basic.
Facilities dated.

Local attractions

The Ouche Valley Railway, part of the old line between Epinac and Dijon, was one of the first railways to be built in France. Stop off at the hamlet of Pont d'Ouche at the journey's end to see where the Ouche river joins up with the famed Burgundy Canal, and to see if you can spot wild boar and deer emerging from the surrounding forest. Fishing, hiking and motorbike riding are all popular in the area, along with visiting the vineyards around Camping Les Isles's local village of Bligny-sur-Ouche. As with all of France, gastronomy is taken quite seriously in the region too; try the truffles and escargots as well as the fine wines and samples of cheese from local farms. Other tourist attractions nearby are Bligny-sur-Ouche's 13th-century church Saint Germain d'Auxerre, built within a medieval castle, and the Musée Papotte, telling the tale of rural life and trades in the area during the 19th century. Both are within a couple of minutes' drive.
