- Peaceful countryside site between Sarlat and Rocamadour
- Pool and paddling pool open all day long
- Bar, mini farm, playground, trampoline, shop and restaurant
A peaceful countryside site – on a hilltop – between the splendid destinations of Sarlat and Rocamadour? Families, groups of friends and folk of all sizes should like a stay at the Dordogne site of Camping Au P'tit Bonheur, five minutes’ drive from the little commune of Peyrillac-et-Millac.
Although it’s well placed for adventures all around the Dordogne, the site is one you should aim to stick around at for some of your holiday time too, as the friendly team have arranged all sorts of activities and facilities for guests. The pool and paddling pool are open all day long for dips at all hours; there’s a playground, a high season kids’ club, a trampoline and inflatables, and chicken and pygmy goats await to be cooed over at the mini farm.
Other facilities include a bar with pool tables, a football table and a library corner, as well as a pétanque court, multisports field and table tennis. Hiking trips, themed nights, karaoke are among the grownup activities arranged by the entertainment team in July and August. (When you’re ready to venture off site, Sarlat and Rocamadour are reachable within 30 and 45 minutes’ drive, and cycling routes, hiking trails, kayaking and canoeing are all close by: ask the team for details.)
A restaurant serves Périgourdin traditional dishes and pizzas. The site also has a grocery store; more supplies can be picked up in Peyrillac-et-Millac.

Local attractions
Drive for five minutes or walk for about 45 to reach the local commune of Peyrillac-et-Millac, where there’s an angora goat farm (visits on Thursday afternoons) and a donkey centre with rides available. The village is crossed by several hiking trails, so pack a picnic and see where you end up.
Two good family days out are within 15 minutes’ drive: the Réserve Zoologique de Calviac, home to around 30 endangered species including lemurs and wolves, and Monkey’s Forest, which has climbing, play areas and hammocks for ages two and up. A somewhat more sophisticated day out is 20 minutes away at the Jardins d’Eau of Carsac, three hectares of botanical gardens above the Dordogne river.
Both Sarlat-la-Canéda (30 minutes) and Rocamadour (45 minutes) are must-sees around these parts, as is spectacular Château de Castelnaud (40 minutes), a medieval fortress on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne valley.
