You’ll be hard pressed to find a site that’s closer to the coast than Camping Opatija – getting to the seashore from this peaceful Kvarner site is a simple matter of walking down 65 steps. Once you’re down there you’ll have a choice of sitting on the beach or strolling along to the harbour area for fishing supplies, boat trips and kayak/paddleboard rentals. Proximity to the water isn’t the only selling point of this place though – it’s also got a fabulous spot in the woods just on the edge of the village of Ičići. That means you’ll have a chilled-out natural setting to relax in, with plenty of shade and privacy and a quiet atmosphere (well, apart from the chirping of the crickets…) At the same time, you’ll still be able to walk to pretty much everything you need – including a supermarket, cafés and places to eat. Looking to explore a little further afield? Getting out and about should be easy enough, as the site is only a short way from the main road. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the elegant seafront town of Opatija and half an hour to Rijeka – or you could opt to stick with the natural views by heading up into the Učka Nature Park (15 minutes) for a hike. Dogs are welcome to join you on the pitches here, which are simple in style but have access to wifi, a washing-up area, toilets and showers.

A lovely terraced, shady site nestled among mature trees, a short stroll from the sea, shops & eateries. Guests love picking their own spot & praise the generally clean facilities & friendly staff. Some pitches uneven, facilities a bit dated, shower temps can vary & road noise noted. Price a tad steep for some.

Liked Unser Aufenthalt war für zwei Nächte die wir noch während der Autofahrt gebucht haben. Das Personal am Service war sehr nett und konnte auch etwas deutsch. Der Platz ist sauber, die Sanitäranlagen ok. Die Erreichbarkeit zum Hafen ist fußläufig über wenige Treppenstufen zu erreichen. Essmöglichkeiten und kleiner Supermarkt in der Nähe.
Rijeka kann von hier aus mit dem Bus besucht werden. Fahrplan hängt am Eingang aus.

Liked Het was goed. De douches etc werden goed schoongehouden. Enige punt is: meer haakjes id douches voor ophangen. Tevens bij de wastafels.

Liked Camping vicino al mare. Per accedere ci sono delle scale che in 100 metri circa ti portano sulla passeggiata che costeggia il mare. Per poter fruire di una spiaggetta bisogna fare circa 10 min. di camminata o se si vuole stare sui scogli o le piazzole di cemento sono immediatamente sotto. I servizi di docce e bagni vengono puliti regolarmente 3 volte al giorno.

Liked Skvěle umístění, pěkná zákoutí pro stany i obytná auta. Čisté WC i sprchy. Skvělá dostupnost-plaz, pekárna, obchod, bar/kavárna, restaurace, vše pěšky do pár minut... Vhodné i pro rodiny s dětmi, kemp má své malé hřiště, několik kempovacich míst je i u něj.

Liked La posizione è molto bella, vicino ai servizi del paese e con una bellissima vista mare. Il lungomare offre moltissime postazioni splendide sugli scogli e ci sono due bellissime piccole spiagge per cani con ciottoli. Nel camping ci si può accampare dove si vuole, l'ombreggiatura è buona. L'atmosfera è quella piacevole di un campeggio a due stelle come deve essere (non un resort): tornerei. Supermercato e riatoranti appena fuori dal campeggio.

Disliked In pieno agosto i 3 blocchi di servizi non sono sempre sufficienti anche perchè il più grande è riservato ai ragazzi della colonia (e ciò lascia sguardi un'intera area del camping). Attenzione: le centraline elettriche hanno le prese "tedesche" a due uscite, non shuko. Alla reception hanno gli adattatori ma quando sono arrivata io erano finiti quindi se potete procuratevelo prima.

Local attractions

Come to this part of Croatia for the coastline? There are lots of ways to take it all in, including hiring kayaks or paddleboards (10 minutes’ walk), settling on Peharovo beach (five minutes’ drive) or making your way to Mošćenice (15 minutes) for a stroll around the pretty village before heading down to the beach for a swim in the clear turquoise waters. For a different kind of seaside view, make your way to Opatija (five minutes) for a stroll along the 12-kilometre seafront promenade – see if you can spot the 'Walk of Fame' on the high street too, filled with the names of various Croatian talents. Rijeka (half an hour) is primarily known to many tourists as a port city, but it's worth spending some time there to visit the castle, see the Roman Arch and wander around the modern art museum. Sticking to countryside pursuits, there are some lovely hiking and cycling trails in Učka Nature Park (15 minutes), including some that lead to a waterfall, an ancient garden or up to the tower on top of Mount Učka.
