- On a beach bordering the Pacific Ocean: live like Robinson Crusoe
- Close to Parque Nacional Pan de Azúcar
- Information centre, museum and food service
How would you like to spend some quality time in a spectacular place with the feeling of being all alone on a beach bordering the Pacific Ocean - living a bit like Robinson Crusoe in a wooden shack? This is proper wild camping - no luxurious frills or hot water, no heating - all right in the Pan de Azúcar National Park.
The park is on the border between the Antofagasta and Atacama regions, in its biggest protected area and home to a variety of wildlife including guanacos and Humboldt penguins. Its favorable weather allows tourists to visit it all year long.
Don't fret too much about the lack of frills: it's not that rudimentary after all. The camping grounds and the park are kept immaculately and you'll find some kitchen supplies and a large communal grill, an ideal place to sit around with fellow guests and enjoy the ocean views and sounds.
The park also has an information centre, a museum, and food service.

Local attractions
Lots of things to do are in and around the Pan de Azucar National Park, along with many tourist services.
If you don't feel like staying for ages on site, lazing around on the beach and rummaging for shells, you could
do some swimming, fishing, scuba diving, nature spot and birdwatch, snap some photos or just have a picnic.
Hikers should try Las Lomitas, about a 30-minute drive from the campsite and covering five kilometres of varying scenery.
