  • Spectacularly scenic waterside park five kilometres from Mol
  • Lake and beach, outdoor waterslide, fishing and boating
  • Sauna, steam bath, indoor play, restaurant, bar and ice cream parlour
The steam bath, sauna, fishing and host of other topping leisurely pursuits are reasons aplenty alone to sort your stay at Resort De Kempen. But then there's the setting: in the spectacular green Kempen region swathed over Belgium's north east and the Netherlands's south east, to make up an area famed for its outdoor activities and family days among forest, wetlands, moors and sandy heath. And then too are the scenic green surrounds of this spacious and scenic woodland site, on the edge of a small (but highly scenic) lake and sandy beach for sunbathing, angling, swimming, paddleboating and water play – might you fancy, for example, slipping down the enormous wooden slide over and over again...? Fishing spots, miniature golf, table tennis, billiards and boules are your land-based options around the resort, while kids are hugely well catered for at the several playgrounds, giant jumping pillow and indoor play area. While they're otherwise occupied at these or at the kids' club, make your way indoors to the subtropical pool complex for another slide, rapids, a whirlpool area and the aforementioned sauna and Turkish steam bath. This splendid setting is Belgium's Wallonia province, five kilometres from the popular tourist resort and two recreational lakes of the municipality of Mol: yes, yet more watery antics await here too... Turnhout, Eindhoven and family days out at Bobbejaanland amusement park are all within 30 to 45 minutes for days off site, and Antwerp is an hour away. To fuel up fully for all these leisurely pleasures, Resort De Kempen has a roomy restaurant, a snack bar, a bar and – also rather topping – its own ice cream parlour.

Local attractions

Make for Mol first once you're ready to venture out into the Kempen: this popular holiday resort made up of woodland and lakes is best known for its two main recreational waters, Zilvermeer and Zilverstrand. Set aside time for both during your trip: Zilvermeer for a white sandy beach, outdoor playground and underwater museum for divers, and Zilverstrand for another sandy beach, outdoor water activities and an indoor pool. Cycling and walking paths are all around the region, along with more public pools; cosy spas and saunas; museums by the dozen and family days at the likes of Veldhoven Zoo 35 minutes' drive from the resort or the amusement parks of DippieDoe and Efteling 45 and 55 minutes away respectively. Adrenalised adventures via paintballing or laser quest are half an hour away at Lichtaart, home also of the rides and rollercoasters of the Bobbejaanland theme park. Crossing over the border into the Netherlands, Bladel is within 20 minutes' drive and Eindhoven and Tilburg both within 45.
