Itching to explore The Lakes National Park or go koala-spotting on Raymond Island? Set up base at Lake Bushland Caravan Park in Nicholson, Victoria. This bush site is quiet and family-friendly, with useful facilities like showers, toilets, a launderette and a dog park.
When you’re not unwinding on site, you might be grabbing a morning coffee or picking up groceries at the coffee shop and grocery store within five minutes’ drive of the site. There are plenty more restaurants and shops in Bairnsdale, 15 minutes’ drive away. In Bairnsdale, get stuck into the Bataluk Cultural Trail, art gallery or the East Gippsland Rail Trail (bring your own bicycles).
Lakes Entrance is a 25-minute drive from Lake Bushland Caravan Park too. From here, there’s a pedestrian bridge to the famed Ninety Mile beach and access to The Lakes National Park, where kangaroos, pelicans and dolphins are often spotted.
Keen to go koala spotting? In Paynesville, 25 minutes’ drive away, catch the foot ferry to Raymond Island. Paynesville is a hot spot for boating, angling, windsurfing and all sorts of watersports – or if you’re feeling lazier, you can always grab dinner at a lakeside restaurant. Wineries are also within a short drive of Lake Bushland Caravan Park.

- The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
- Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
- Bookings must not be for more than 49 consecutive nights.
- Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.
- No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
- Swimming in the lake is not allowed.
- If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
- Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.
