  • Peaceful Pembrokeshire site in a wildlife haven just off the A487
  • A 10-minute drive from Newgale beach; 20 minutes from St Davids
  • Picnic tables on site; pub two minutes' walk and bus stop close by
Hankering after a handily located park in Pembrokeshire with fantastic countryside views? Here’s one for you: Pelcomb Cross Campsite, just off the A487 and less than 10 minutes’ drive from the amenities of Haverfordwest and the nearest beach at Newgale. Eye up the lush nature from the pitches (some of which have a gentle slope) and look out for wildlife at the park’s pond too: it’s a popular spot for critters such as otters, herons, buzzards and red kites. There’s also plenty of space for human guests to relax, whether they’d like to chuck a ball around or just park up for a meal on one of the picnic benches. Eats are easy to sort as firepits and barbecues are allowed at this rural site (as long as they’re kept off ground to avoid scorching) and a pub is two minutes’ walk away if you’d prefer someone else to do the cooking. A petrol station with a well-stocked convenience store and a fish and chip shop are half a mile away. If you'd like to roam without the car, it's handy to note there's a bus stop about 80 metres from the site. As well as being close to amenities, the whole park feels safe and secure as it’s monitored by CCTV. Facilities centre around a smart modern bathroom block with underfloor heating, a couple of family-sized showers and an accessible toilet and shower. There’s also a pressurised boiler system to make sure there’s oodles of hot water for freshening up. Please note that there are no electric vehicle charging points on site. If you would like to 'trickle charge' your vehicle, please speak to site staff first.

Abermawr Sunset fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Very nice quiet site with spotless amenities and lovely views across the valley and hills of Pembrokeshire. Great place for jumping off to all the Major Pembrokeshire coastal towns and villages. lovely local places to eat out and great fish and chips just down the road. Chris is incredibly helpful and we will be visiting them again soon

Disliked: WiFi is a bit flakey in places but there was no charge because of this.

Pendine fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The whole set up of the campsite was welcoming, easy to find, and the text message before we left in the morning was very thoughtful. The amenities on the site were exceptional. The toilets were immaculate, the showers again, immaculate (& free!) It was a perfect little campsite with lots of information given on the notice boards regarding the area and various places that did food and offered delivery. We ordered in Chinese, it was lovely, we also ate in the nearby pub. The food there was exceptional and big portions. The staff were also lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Each time making a fuss of my 2 dogs aswell. Overall an excellent stay with no complaints at all. Thank you 🥰

Disliked: Nothing!

Manorbier electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Great site and well looked after. Showers and toilets very good and always warm, it's the simple things that make a holiday enjoyable. The site is in a great position for access to lots of the beautiful Pembroke coastline. We had mixed weather but can say that we were fairly sheltered so the hedges worked well.

Disliked: Only issue we had was not great phone reception, though that's a pro in someways, enforce relaxation. The WiFi was a little hit and miss, it was normally £2 a night but was given free due to its intermittent nature so no issue to complain about.

From the manager: Thanks for the feedback but I wish you had mentioned the wifi issue whilst you were staying with us. I did park on your pitch once you had left and streamed a film on Netflix with the phone lying in the foorwell of the Pickup also with the caravan next door also sheilding the phone from the transmitter. Our system is only 18 months old and was the best available at the time. You'll see a review below from a guest who left just before you arrived actually praising our WiFi. We have around 750mb coming onto the campsite and eacg device will get a maximum of 80mbps which should be enough for most things. Also only half the people here use the wifi so its never overloaded. I have refunded the £10 charge for this guests WiFi.

Pendine fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The site was easy to find and the pitch was a good size. The location was great to visit a lot of lovely beaches and a pub a few minutes walk away was great for food. Facilities onsite were kept clean and there was a lovely little dog walk area. Friendly and welcoming owners who were always available for questions. Really good WiFi for a small charge.

Disliked: Only negative thing was that you have to drive to get anywhere, but there may have been a bus nearby.

Local attractions

Here for a beach break? Set off for Newgale with its surf schools galore (10 minutes' drive) and check out the vast sandy shores of Tenby (40 minutes) as well. This top seaside resort has several takeaways for snacking on fish and chips with a view of the sea. If the tiddlers have had enough time with the bucket and spade, organise a trip to Oakwood Theme Park (20 minutes) to ride the rollercoasters, then admire the animals at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (25 minutes). You could also interact with more creatures by booking a beach horse-riding trip from Nolton Stables (10 minutes). Take to the water after trotting on the sand during a visit to the Blue Lagoon aqua park (20 minutes), or dive into the Abereiddy Blue Lagoon (20 minutes), a brightly coloured pool that gets its turquoise hue from a slate bottom. Afterwards, get out on the sea with a boat trip from St Davids, a tiny city that’s also worth dropping by for the intricately designed cathedral and Bishop’s Palace (20 minutes).
