  • Small family-friendly site 20 minutes' drive from Pembroke
  • Sandy beaches around 20 minutes away in Tenby and Saundersfoot
  • Designated dog exercise area on site
This countryside site is an excellent spot for anyone looking to unwind surrounded by Pembrokeshire greenery: Oaklea Camping and Glamping Park is in a central spot surrounded by the Pembrokeshire countryside, and its coast and towns. The Daugleddau estuary is also close by, with yet more great places for walkers to explore. Oklea Camping and Glamping Park is a small site with spacious pitches. Dogs are welcome, as long as they're kept on a lead (and booked for the dog-friendly pitch types only - they're not permitted in the shepherd's huts). Handily, the site has a designated dog exercise area where they can run free under the supervision of their owner. When you're ready to get out and explore, this is an excellent spot to reach the walks, beaches and castles that Pembrokeshire’s famed for. Get as sandy and muddy as you like, safe in the knowledge that back on site is a toasty heated bathroom with hot showers.

Grand spot, spotless campsite with loads of space. Facilities are dead clean, toilets and showers top-notch. Owners are gas, proper helpful. Water on pitch is a nice touch. Grand for a quiet break, handy for Pembrokeshire. Loads of folk want to head back.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Good location for touring around Pembrokeshire on day trips. Nice spacious caravan pitches, fantastic toilets and showers which were spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful owners who were responsive if you needed them but not overbearing. Some really nice touches such as water on pitch, good WiFi, extensive recycling facilities, dog walking area.

Disliked Last mile or so of the road to the site is single track with passing places, could be a bit tricky if you're towing and encounter someone coming the other way. Could've done with a map or better signage to help find where things were.

Local attractions

You’ve got to catch a castle or few if you come to these parts – Pembrokeshire’s dotted with fine examples. With a drive of 20 minutes or so you can take in the ruins of Carew Castle (often handsomely reflected in the neighbouring mill pond), stroll around seaside Manorbier Castle or head to Pembroke to see the fortress where Henry VII was born. And you’ve got to take in a beach or few too. There are the traditional resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot (20 minutes’ drive), many surfers' favourite spot Freshwater West (half an hour) and the utterly gorgeous Barafundle Bay, often tipped as one of the world’s best (half an hour). Birdwatching boat trips to Skomer from Dale and dolphin-spotting safaris from St Davids are both about 45 minutes away. For family-friendly attractions, see Manor Wildlife Park (15 minutes), the Heatherton World of Activities (15 minutes), Wild Lakes Wales (five minutes) and Oakwood Theme Park (10 minutes).
