  • Peaceful rural site a 15-minute walk from the village pub
  • Half an hour from the beaches of the south and west coasts
  • Firepit hire available on site, with wood and kindling to buy
Fancy a spot of rural relaxation a short walk from the village pub and with easy access to the famed Welsh castles and coastline? Then take a break at Y Bwthyn, a peaceful place surrounded by farmland and a 15-minute trot from the pub in Llandissilio. Energetic small fry (and accompanying canines) can romp about with impunity at this spacious site, and there’s plenty of stuff nearby to fuel holiday smiles too. Perhaps they’d like to play at being knights at Laugharne Castle, build sandcastles on Saundersfoot beach or have a go on the heart-thumping rides at Oakwood? All are within a half-hour drive. Guests are welcome to set up their own barbecue or campfire for warm alfresco soirées (sensible locations away from the pitches only please, peeps) and individual firepits, wood and kindling are available to request on arrival for an extra charge. All the basics are provided for a comfy stay: the toilet and shower block is sited on the accommodation field, and has separate facilities for ladies and gents.

Grand spot, dead peaceful with plenty of room. Owners are sound. Showers and loos are spotless. Perfect base for Pembrokeshire. A few lads said amenities were basic and no shops close by.

10-amp electric grass pitch

Liked I loved the amount of space the children had to play, plenty of room for running around and ball games. The pitches were a good size and kept clean and tidy at all times.
The owners were very kind and helpful and never too far away if needed, they even give us the option to stay a few hours longer so we could dry are tent. We will 100% be returning.

FANTASTIC PLACE IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A CHILLED HOLIDAY, WITH PLENTY OF THINGS TO DO IN THE SURROUNDING AREA..

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

16-amp electric grass pitch

Liked It was our first time camping and we found the campsite to be small enough but also big enough. Nigel and Erica were so friendly and welcoming and they are constantly on the ball, making sure the campsite is maintained, being available for any questions you may have etc. Everything about our stay was great.
We shared the camp with some mildly disruptive neighbours and both Nigel and Erica came over in the morning to apologise and reassure us the issue had been solved which was great. Their communication was brilliant. They even came round in the evening with a fire pit and wood to burn at a very reasonable price. We also had some family visit us and they were welcomed in, no problem.
Overall - great campsite. Site and facilities are clean and well maintained. Owners are friendly and welcoming and are on hand should you need assistance. Pitch prices are great and the pitches are level/well maintained. Location wise the camp is 10 mins from Narberth and 25 from Tenby/Saundersfoot. It’s pretty central to Pembrokeshire, no longer than 45 mins away from places like Cardigan, St David’s etc.

Liked Nothing

Disliked The hosts were so rude. Never experienced anything like it in my life. Their attitude and choice of language whilst shouting at us was appalling. So many of our neighbour's said the same, that they'd had enough and won't be returning again. Even some of the regulars said they're trying to sell to move on. Disgusting behaviour. Even turned our electric off way before the time for us to leave. Absolute disgrace! Funny part is the husband telling us the wife had gone to bed but we got video evidence of her swigging back a beer slagging us off over the other side of the campsite with her big gob and blairing music. So one rule for her regulars and another for us clearly. Hilarious..getting threatened with calling the police over us sat around the firepit we hired off them and having a chat and giggle. Never known anywhere to come over and give you a 10.30pm curfew whilst your at camping having fun with your friends. Her exact words were right you guys everyone's gone to bed it's 10.50 so should you lot. Wow! Dunno why they lied and said everyone in bed as we had someones kid sat with us so we followed the noise and seen her partying, shameful after the way she just spoke to us. My advice would be avoid this place at all costs because they literally are like the fun police. Absolute jokes! Goes without saying we won't be returning. Weren't even value for money especially paying for electric and they turned it off 12 hours before we were due to leave. Horrible spiteful people!

Local attractions

Half an hour’s drive takes you down to the beaches of the south coast, including the sandy stretches at Saundersfoot and Tenby, from where you can also take a boat trip out of the harbour to try your luck spotting the local seals. Active types can pick up the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Tenby to take a ramble along part of its 186-mile length in search of cliffs, coves and castles; a popular stretch is the eight-mile section from Tenby to Manorbier Castle. Those who’d rather take to the sea can hire motorboats, kayaks and jetskis in Tenby, or have a go at waterskiing or wakeboarding. Surfing types can head west to Newgale, just over half an hour away and a well known fave for boarders. There’s always a castle nearby in this part of Wales, and at Y Bwthyn your nearest examples are Picton Castle, 20 minutes away, and Laugharne Castle, half an hour’s drive away. Picton looks like a classic castle from the outside, but has been restored inside as a smart stately home – a rather fab mash-up of styles. Leave time to walk through the woods and visit the Secret Owl Garden, too. Laugharne, in contrast, is an atmospheric ruin that overlooks the Taf estuary and provides some imagination-firing glimpses into 12th-century life. Oakwood Theme Park and the Blue Lagoon waterpark are both around a 20-minute drive away.
