  • Flat grass site with spectacular views of St Brides Bay
  • Within walking distance of St Davids and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
  • Half a mile from an organic farm shop selling cheese, bacon and bread
Your car may possibly want a nice rest after a drive to Pembrokeshire. Which is why there aren’t many Mor prime Pembrokeshire locales than Glan-Y-Mor Camp Site: the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the teenily enticing city of St Davids are within walking distance and it’s a simple saunter to the nearest beach, cutely compact Caerfai. Going further afield? There are regular local bus services to the many other beaches in the area, for surfing, sunbathing or snapping the coastal views. Glan-Y-Mor is on two and a half acres of flat grass among the grounds of former guesthouse and 19th-century house Glan-Y-Mor (rumour has it that the house was once a haunt for smugglers peddling their nefarious wares). These days, it’s a peaceful place to use as a base for touring around St Davids peninsula via any way that takes your fancy: stick to walking, hail down a bus or hire a bike on site for a coast path cycle. The roomy pitches all have rather stunning views of St Brides Bay to the south and include access to free hot showers, toilets, a washing-up area, chemical disposal and an ice pack freezer. Supplies and essentials are plentiful locally, even on foot: an organic farm shop selling milk, cheese, bread, bacon and warm morning croissants is about half a mile down the road, and St Davids has a first-class food and wine deli selling fresh local produce and made to order rolls and baguettes. Your car will thank you for the rest…

Non-electric grass and earth tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Great spot close to St Davids and the beach plus the coastal path. Facilities are a bit dated but clean and functional. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Some great walks nearby and it's only about 10 minutes stroll into the town

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: We love Glan y mor campsite- very close to Ty Ddewi (the town) and the coastal path. Facilities excellent- always spotlessly clean. Helen and her family work so hard. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Great location 10 minutes walk from both a beach and St.Davids.Toilets and cleaning facilities clean and functional. Farm shop 5 mins walk on neighbouring campsite. Food stall on site which looked good although we didn't manage to eat there.

Disliked: Stayed on tent site for 8 nights with 2 young children (advised in booking), the pitch we were allocated was probably the most exposed location on the site and adjacent to the road access. We observed many other more sheltered pitches thatwe could have been allocated which was frustrating and but clearly not a consideration, it was not an option to request to change as we had already pitched our tent, unlike most other campers on other pitches who were mostly in campers/caravans. Wifi code was displayed in wash area however couldn't connect on multiple devices, owner checked us in on arrival but but didn't check in with us after which had they done so we would have raised the issues.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Proximity to coastal path and Caerfai Bay Level pitch Washing up facilities

Disliked: One shower kept cutting out after only 10 seconds or so which meant you were constantly having to push the button. A minor annoyance but thought I'd mention. Other shower I used was fine. Also it would have been nice to have met the owner/wardens - check in was just via phone and we didn't see anyone for the duration of our stay. I guess we could have been out and about but it would have been nice to have said hello.

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: The family who run it are lovely, and the location is great and the showers were hot but apart from that not a great experience.

Disliked: The facilities are tatty and cold, no outer door on the men’s loos, no plugs, and the water isn’t warm in the basins. There was no hooks on doors and really no thought for people’s comfort. We had the local drunk in a tent who had his mates in every evening to smoke weed and talk till late and no one checked on him to make sure he wasn’t keeping everyone else awake even tho he seemed known to them.

Local attractions

This compact little area has quite a bit to see and do, with many more attractions, activities and good restaurants within a short bus ride or drive. Stop off at the city of St Davids first to see its 12th-century cathedral, a popular place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages (canny Pope Callixtus II decreed that two pilgrimages to St Davids = one pilgrimage to Rome, leading to the devout descending on it from all over. Clever.). Nature spotters can take an offshore islands boat trip from St Davids peninsula around Ramsey and Grassholm Islands to see porpoises, dolphins and occasionally whales in the water, and seabirds teeming all around. Ramsey has cliffs up to 120 metres high and Grassholm is the third most important gannet breeding area in the country with 39,000 pairs of birds ducking about – probably a bit noisy in spring… Speaking of noisy chicks, if you have the youngsters with you they’ll probably appreciate a day trip to one of Pembrokeshire’s leisure parks: award-winning Folly Farm; Oakwood Theme Park at Narberth, and paintball, karting and high ropes at Heatherton in Tenby.
