  • Well-maintained family-friendly Pembrokeshire site in Clunderwen
  • Wild Lakes Wales 15 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to the coast
  • Easy access from the A478; railway station five minutes' walk
A peaceful place to stay and a convenient location for getting out and about easily are a couple of things that are often high on the wishlist for visitors to Pembrokeshire… and it has to be said that Gower Villa Caravan Park is one of those places that scores highly on both fronts. This friendly, well-maintained site is in Clunderwen, just a few minutes’ walk from the village’s shop, bus stops and railway station. And it’s handily also just a couple of minutes’ drive from the A478 – so journeys in, out and all around should be nicely straightforward, however you choose to travel. It’s even possible to explore on foot, following the 3.4-mile Clunderwen Station Walk from the village into some scenic countryside. If you’re looking to explore Pembrokeshire thoroughly, this site makes an excellent base – beaches, castles and Preseli Hills walks are all within about a half-hour drive, as are heaps of great family attractions including Wild Lakes Wales and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. Narberth, a town full of indie shops and cafés, is about 10 minutes’ drive away. As for the site itself, it’s a quiet family-friendly place that welcomes dogs and has a play area for the kids to have a bit of time running around. Facilities include a launderette, a washing-up area, a chemical disposal point and a bathroom block with clean showers and toilets (including accessible facilities).

Local attractions

Those of you who like to get out for a good walk will be in a good spot here – as well as the local village walking trail you can head up into the Preseli Hills (Foel Cwmcerwyn, 40 minutes’ drive away, is a popular choice) or get over to the coast for a section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Of course, the coast is also full of excellent beaches to visit, whether you head to a resort town like Saundersfoot (25 minutes’ drive) or Tenby (half an hour) or seek out wilder spots like Amroth (20 minutes) and Freshwater East (35 minutes). Pendine (25 minutes), home to the Museum of Land Speed, and Manorbier (35 minutes), with its beach and castle, are also popular seaside spots. For a bit more history, stop in at the likes of Carew Castle (25 minutes) and Pembroke Castle (half an hour); to keep the kids entertained you may also like to think about the Pembrokeshire Llama Sanctuary (10 minutes), Wild Lakes Wales (15 minutes) and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes).
