Liked: Loved our stay, we only live 10 minutes away and the farm made us feel like we were miles away. We loved seeing the animals, especially our company of the cat. Facilities were kept lovely and clean and the hosts were welcoming and friendly. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Liked: Stunning views from the campsite, peaceful and quiet, pitches wide apart. Lovely owners, and the site was conveniently located near Pontypool. Nice walking trails nearby.
Disliked: The washing up area was out of service, but there was a tap by the shepherd’s hut we could use.

Liked: The views made this place amazing! Pitches were nicely spread out and nice to see the pigs and sheep. Middle of nowhere yet 5 minutes from Pontypool town.
Disliked: The toilet (one portapotty in a shed) was not that clean. The shower was sufficient, but also not clean. We had a lovely stay but a little cleaning would make this site a lot more enjoyable.

Black Mountain shepherd's hut
Liked: The views! Also the site is far from roads and so quiet :) we loved all the farm animals, particularly the cats and gem the dog. Vic and Barbra were very welcoming and generous with their time. Star gazing at night was lovely too. The shepherds hut is wonderful, very simple so come prepared to wash up outside but equipped with really helpful touches like a power, a brilliant kettle and a gorgeous Welsh blanket. The stove was great, we also made use of the picnic tables and bbq on site. Check out komoot for some lovely circular walks that intersect with the site. Thanks for having us! We will be back! X

Liked: The setting of the hut is beautiful, with far reaching views across the valley. The hut itself is cosy and well equipped and we really enjoyed breakfast outside with a view in the morning. The owners are lovely and very approachable. We would definitely love to come back one day!

Electric grass tent pitch
Liked: We stayed in the Shepherds Hut on this site which was clean and well set up, just as described on the website. The views were stunning out to the east and south, and among the rain showers we saw a beautiful rainbow over the folly. Thank you to the hosts for opening up their farm for camping and for taking excellent care of us. We will definitely recommend this site to others and will return here ourselves if we ever make it out to camp in South Wales again.

Liked: The location is stunning, with beautiful views of rolling hills into the distance. I booked the electric grass tent pitch for my wife and I and the Black Mountain Shepherds Hut for my parents. The hosts were very welcoming and took excellent care of use, including maintaining the toilet to a high standard of cleanliness.
