Liked: Beautiful campsite! Pitches look out onto the Tawe which runs through the camp, as well as a lovely view of Fan Hir. Ample fire pits and a good amount of tree cover. Site sits on a roughly 12 mile circular route up around the Llyn y fan lakes. Camp site has minimal facilities but does offer a nice hot shower and a couple of bins. Toilet and drinking water both across the road at the pub. The pub is open on weekends and serves a minimal menu of very reasonably priced pub food, great portion sizes and a decent selection of beers. Owners both really friendly and relaxed, didn’t seem to have any issues with us going over the road to use the wifi (even when the pub was closed) or plug in our devices inside. No phone signal at the camp so useful to be able to access wifi outside the pub to plan routes.

Non-electric hardstanding motorhome pitch
Liked: Really good pitch and right next to the footpath to lead you up to the ridge. Basic camping with a warm shower. No frills but that’s what we wanted.
Disliked: This is not the sites fault but to be aware there is next to no phone network in this area.

Liked: We absolutely loved our stay, it was right next to the walks and the river! Not as secluded as we thought but still lovely the pub across the road was great didn’t eat there but did have a pint which was well priced. Also the flushing toilet was a bit of luxury 😂 hosts was great and very helpful. We will definitely be back.

Non-electric hardstanding motorhome pitch
Liked: Really convenient to walk the Brecon Way to the Black Mountain and the Carmarthen Fans. It would be perfect for camping with a tent on the small riverside field. There's a water tap and loo at the pub across the road. (There's a shower - very basic but it's there).
Disliked: We had a small motorhome which meant we were in the car park. We knew this in advance so we're expecting it but we weren't expecting to have other vehicles parked so close we could barely open our door. Definitely a safety issue with vans and gas bottles. There was noise until 2am too - not from the younger campers but a couple of much older campervanners. Would we go back? Probably but not on a sunny, hot weekend in Summer. If you do have a motorhome, fill up with water before you get there. The tap at the pub is not accessible to fill a van directly with a hose pipe. There's no grey waste disposal so make sure you've got an empty cassette on the loo if you don't fancy a trek across the road in the middle of the night

Liked: Location: A-plus! Couldn't ask for a better spot The Pub: A saving grace! Great for singing along (if you like that), but beware of the summer-only setup. Could just have easily been a negative.
Disliked: Facilities: Basic is an understatement. Think portable toilet that rival a lion's scent gland. Price: A bit steep for the "rustic charm" on offer and snug set-up.

Disliked: Camping was good for tents but campers and motor homes are basically in a pub car park. Pub expensive for limited drinks. Only allowed to sit outside pub

Liked: The area was beautiful, I liked that it was next to the river with a short walkway easily accessible. It was also nice that the pitches were underneath trees.
Disliked: The staff were really rude and had all been drinking when we arrived. The vibe felt very unwelcoming and both my partner and I felt awkward using the toilets provided, as they were behind a bar where people were drinking. One of the staff members made a joke which I asked him to repeat and they all just laughed at me. The actual campsite was a small clearing in a fenced off wood, with the only amenities being an overgrown and mouldy shower with little privacy and a porta-potty. Very bad value for the amount that it costed, the next day we drove a little further into wales and found a place called Penpont which was stunning with amazing facilities, which was way cheaper and in a beautiful setting-I suggest people who want to visit this area go there instead for a better experience.

Liked: Absolutely loved our camping trip, the glade is so pretty and we loved being next to running water. The outdoor shower was great and having the pub over the road is a great set up. Andy was an amazing host, friendly and went over and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. A great place to feel off grid yet, adult only and have the comforts of a nice cold pint! We will definitely be back again soon. Definitely take deet spray - midgies! Thank you again for such a wonderful stay 😊
