  • Well-located site in the Swansea valley just off the M4 corridor
  • A 15-minute drive to Swansea and 30 minutes to the Gower peninsula
  • Indoor pool, coffee shop, wifi, bar, live entertainment and fishing
Centrally located just north of Wales’ second biggest city, Riverside Caravan Park makes a brill base for touring both the country’s south and west. This family-run spot with an indoor swimming pool and fishing facilities is in between the Swansea valley and the M4 corridor, about half an hour’s drive from the stunning scenery of the Gower peninsula... Before hopping around the beaches though, it’s best to get in a good feed at the chip shop, grab a takeaway or – if it’s Sunday – try one of the traditional dinners at the park. A bar’s on site for drinks post-explores and entertainment ranging from bingo to live music is put on in the nights as well. Fodder figured out, start your adventures in the west after a pick-me-up coffee from the café, beginning with the Mumbles half an hour’s drive away for its pretty pier and fancy houses – the abode of well-known Welshwoman Catherine Zeta-Jones is around here somewhere... Wide and sandy Llangennith (about 40 minutes’ drive) could be next or you might want to amble along the coastal path at Rhosilli (50 minutes) for epic views over the ocean. Surf with the seals at Oxwich Bay (also 50 minutes) or curl up on a blanket at a smaller cove, Broughton Bay, about 40 minutes away. Closer beaches that have a bit more of a built-up setting include Swansea’s very own bay (20 minutes) and Aberavon (the same distance) with its Aquasplash pool. Kids not tired out yet after full-on days? The play area back on base should get them feeling sleep enough for a good night’s rest, ready to do it all over again the next morning...

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The location of the site as was easy to find, hookup was good and easy to access. Chip shop was nice. Laundry facilities were good.

Disliked: Clubhouse not usable if you had a dog, didn't manage to find the onsite cafe. Lots of heavy vehicles passing through and loud noises early in the mornings disturbed sleep. We arrived late and it was difficult to sign in as had no instructions previously. Clubhouse quite rowdy at weekends but entertainment was okay.

Liked: Nothing at all! Apart from showers/toilets clean

Disliked: Everything else! The site was wide awake all night! Waterlogged! Accidentally paid £60 for the following week so paid twice for £120 for one whole night in the deepest depths of hell!!!!! 2 x family tents next to us both is all bourse screaming and shouting until 4am in the morning, music blaring right through the night all over park clubhouse can’t have been updated since I was born…..maybe even longer! Didn’t even stay 12 hours! And reception staff completely unhelpful! Seeing the waterlogged pitches and knowing about the noise saying that I couldn’t even have the money back from the second night because I didn’t report it to security in the middle of the night because I didn’t want to find the electric outside my tent in pitch black with people fighting because I ran out of mobile battery 😳 This has scarred me for life! 🤯

Liked: What I read the site had to offer hence the booking

Disliked: The site was not as described, we arrived and left without checking in. On arrival our first sight was a scrap metal van full, went a bit further to see obvious residential caravans these were green the awnings were green one caravan was lop sided touching the floor on the front end. We drove round to the reception area on our way noticed cramped pitches over lapping guy ropes, vans parked all over. In an attempt to salvage our holiday we booked another site whilst sat out side reception, through out our holiday at another site we checked the reviews and are confident we made the right decision not to stay here reviews stating fighting and police presence antisocial behaviour. Definitely not a site for children!

Liked: Receptionist one member of staff older woman with glasses was helpful.

Disliked: 1) Got there and our pitch wasn't ready, they moved it us around on the computer and finally got it sorted after 35 minutes of us waiting with two toddlers. Two 6 year olds and 3 teenagers. 2) There was a number of adults fighting on site where police were called more than once. Staff just were not able to deal with it. 3) In the children's park there were older kids trying to be horrible to younger kids as they were not being watched. 4) the whole park it open so anyone could walk on and off it. 5) The ladies toilets flooded on the Friday evening and noone cleaned it up all weekend even though staff were informed. Also some of the doors when you close them are difficult to open in the toilets was there for nearly 20 minutes the one day trying to open. 6)The showers have got no pressure on them and are freezing. 7) The pool water looks like a massive puddle generally don't know the last time it was cleaned and it was freezing again. 8) There was a family on site who partied all night Friday night and went to bed at 7am site didn't do nothing about the complaints put in about them. Overall we couldn't wait to get home. Absolutely disappointed 😞 especially as we had a disabled person with us and this was there annual weekend away with her family. Will not be returning

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: I am going to be totally honest I drove in and thought OH MY GOD what have I booked! we have a tent pitch and we booked for Thursday-Sunday and we have really enjoyed that much we stayed an extra night and leave on Monday instead. Weather was miserable on Thursday when we arrived and its been really nice since, lovely bar lovely size pool nice little shop with basic stuff went for a lovely walk all around the whole park love pond with ducks and swans lovely caravans up there to show the kids around, I admit I read all the reviews and I was really nervous and scared but I have had the best family weekend ever met lovely people across from us which invited us over to make smores which was sooooo nice. Little park up by the entrance which is ideal for the children. Don’t read the reviews try it for yourself :)

Disliked: Only thing I didn’t like was the fact I had to keep pressing the button on the wall to keep the shower running but it was boiling hot which was a plus! Also the swimming pool didn’t have a life guard or anyone manning the place and it was wild with most kids jumping in as and when they want infront of anyone and coming down the slide without looking if anyone was near the bottom. Oh one more thing… I booked for a electric hook up tent pitch when I arrived I had to pay a further £18 because they said I hadn’t chose electric but my email said I had but I paid and just left it.

Local attractions

It’s not just beaches that lure people to this lovely area: the country parks are also swish, including Gnoll in Neath (15 minutes) with its 100-acre early-18th-century landscaped garden. Visit for Aberdulais Falls and the sizable waterwheel or to have a knockabout at the golf course. The Neath and Tennant Canal’s around here too for woodland walks beside water… Go south to Swansea for more nature at Plantasia (15 minutes), a big public hothouse with all sorts of plants to see; the city’s main museum will also keep you occupied for a fair few hours with its film showings and photography exhibitions. Weather looking a bit iffy? Get on over to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (30 minutes’ drive) for underground antics in the Brecon Beacons’ 17-kilometre-long cave system.
