Madoc Lake fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (waterside)
Liked: Very picturesque site. Good size pitches. Evening and breakfast available on site.
Disliked: Toilet and shower facilities needed to be much bigger for the amount of pitches available.

Madoc Lake non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked: Quiet, nice lakes,
Disliked: Not much variety in the bar.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, though we are a bit confused as to the not much variety in the bar, it is a site bar not a nightclub bar but has a good selection of spirits, wines, beers and 4 draught pumps plus non alcoholic choices as well as soft drinks snacks crisps.

Fishing Canal electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked: Nice lakes nice showers friendly goats
Disliked: Over flowing bins with sanitary towels in then in the toiltes and shower blocks and overgrown pitches where we stayed feel let down by what you read on the website pictures of full English breakfasts and they don't even do full English breakfast won't be staying again just feel it was dirty
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for your review. Disappointing to read that you were not happy. We do full english breakfasts Wednesday to Sunday. If only breakfast baps were available there would have been a reason for this which would have been explained. Did you report the toilet situation, they get checked every hour, we cannot control how some guests leave the toilets but if we are told then we can do something about it at the time.

Fishing Canal electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked: Pitches were big nice size, if you like fishing this is for you
Disliked: We chose this campsite as it had a cafe/restaurant and live entertainment we arrived on Tuesday on our way home from Berkshire when we arrived we were told the cafe/ restaurant were closed as they had a big wedding on Saturday, when you book a campsite you expect to get what you pay for , if we had known it wasn't open for food we would of gone else were, we were offered nuggets and chips but that's not what we wanted, the bar was open but you had to go to the office to say you wanted a drink, no live entertainment what was advertised, as everybody else said definitely not enough toilets for such a big camp site.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, it does state that we are open each day for the cafe and bar with live music on Friday and Saturdays throughout the summer months going to Wednesday to Sunday during the quieter months. It was unfortunate that the site had been booked out at the time you arrived and we were getting ready for this, we also posted that there was a change in the schedule. It was a Tuesday afternoon that you were served and yes you came to the office which at the time you seemed happy to seeing as the office door was open and it was right next to where you were sitting so we are disappointed that you now claim not to have been happy with this. The live entertainment has never been advertised except for a Friday and Saturday. The site overall is large but it is not full of pitches as you make out so makes it a small site but with plenty of space and with pitches not being on top of each other. There are two toilet/shower blocks one in each area.

Liked: A small site with massive pitches, our little van looked lost Have lakes to fish in and a lake to swim in, but keep an eye on kids at the swimming lake.
Disliked: The loo building looked a little unfinished, needed some soap.

Madoc Lake non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked: Really lovely, spacious pitches! Lots to do onsite including a small swimming lake, a bar with live music in the evenings and delicious pizzas! We had two dogs with us as well and they were very welcome. Plenty of space on our pitch to have them on long lines. There were also fields to walk them on! The staff were all very nice - helpful and welcoming!
Disliked: Not enough toilets / shower facilities for the size of the site. Manageable but more would have been nice! Our nearest one was also the one used by the swimmers in the lake so was often busy. A washing up station nearby would have also been very welcome.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. The swimmers are not supposed to use the shower block which we will make them aware in the future.

Madoc Lake non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked: Our 2nd visit, and it didn't disappoint, just planning when we can come again. So honest review, pitches are absolutely massive, downside concrete under the bricks so go close to the grass if needing to peg anything down. The lake is fabulous for paddle boarding etc. We bobbed around in a dingy, lake water is waist height for me (I'm 5ft 1) can't comment in the plentiful fishing lakes, but if you do fish you are spoilt for choice on lakes. Yet to try the cafe or pizza, but the bar has a very relaxed feel. Showers are free there is only one by the lake but never a queue for it. If wild swimming bring beach shoes as its silt at the bottom. Loved our stay, would highly recommend & will definitely be returning for a longer stay.
Disliked: Nothing
