  • Large rural Anglesey pop-up site with spectacular views of Snowdonia
  • Central location within easy reach of 125 miles of coastline
  • Dog-friendly site with easy access from the A55
Angling for an island break on Anglesey? This splendid site is right in the middle of it all – 'it' being the 125 miles of spectacular coastline, nature reserves, lakes and reservoirs that can be found across this varied isle. A mile and half down the road from Gwalchmai, the site has fab views of Snowdonia and covers a whopping 136 acres – which, as you footie fans will surely have calculated already, is equivalent to almost 73 football fields. There's easy access to the A5, the A55 and the nearby seaport of Holyhead for those who fancy adventuring across the Irish Sea… When events here are in full swing, set yourself up for days scrutinising crafts, home-grown vegetables and, every Sunday, a car boot sale. Whatever you end up doing, starting the day with a big hearty breakfast's a sure-fire way to put a spring in your step – you can enjoy a hot breakfast on site from 8am, or provisions can be sourced with ease at a nearby supermarket (10 minutes' drive) Up for a meal out? Again hot food is available on site from 5pm for dinner, or simply sample the island's famed oyster hauls at any one of its many great seafood spots or you can enjoy. The pitches here are all surrounded by open fields; there's a handy toilet block on site too, with limited access to showers. Salty sea dogs are welcome to tag along – they're pretty sure to appreciate the fact that wherever you roam on Anglesey, you'll never be more than 15 miles from the coast.

Local attractions

Load up with all the usual beach paraphernalia of buckets, frisbees and fishing nets, because this little island is bordered by three sections of heritage coast and 125 miles of coastline. Stroll the sandy shores of Red Wharf Bay (30 minutes' drive), embark on a rock pool safari in Porth Dafarch (20 minutes) or compete for the seat as Benllech's sandcastle champ (25 minutes). You're utterly spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic walks on Anglesey as well; the top pick has surely got to be the 200-kilometre Anglesey Coastal Path trail, which circles the island and takes you across mossy headlands, grassy dunes, bays and estuaries. Further inland, the lakes, marshes and woodlands are dotted with nature reserves buzzing with nature, making them prime places for a spot of wildlife watching. Llyn Cefni Reservoir, less than 10 minutes' drive away, is home to warblers, wrens and the occasional kingfisher, making it a popular haunt for birdwatchers. Nature trails abound around the reed beds of Anglesey’s largest fen, Cors Erddreiniog (20 minutes), where you’ll get to see troops of butterflies, moths and dragonflies.
