  • Small family-run campsite near Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Five-minute walk to the Coastal Path; Penmon Priory 10 minutes’ drive
  • Communal firepit; campers’ shack with cooker; café and shop
With truly outstanding views across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia, Plas yn Llangoed is a small family run campsite just five minutes’ drive from Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey. It’s a family-friendly spot in the grounds of a family house, with a relaxed vibe and the opportunity to do as much or as little as you like. Prefer to chill on site and admire the beautiful mountain views or ‘do’ Anglesey, its stretches of sandy beaches, coastal walks and many historic attractions? However you choose to spend your time, this is a peaceful base with lots of spotless facilities; the owners Emily, Trig, Dan and Lizzie look forward to welcoming you. They are keen to develop an eco-camping experience at Plas yn Llangoed and are striving to have as little impact on the environment as possible. Wood is left stacked as bug hotels and hedges are being repaired and replanted, while you’ll hopefully spot buzzards, woodpeckers and owls around the place too. Now, those spotless amenities. Hot showers, wash basins and washing-up areas (please use the eco-friendly products supplied). A clever addition to the camping field is the campers’ shack with gas hobs, a fridge and USB charging points. Here you can help yourselves to free, sustainably sourced tea, coffee or hot chocolate during the day. No need to worry about breakfast either – pastries are available to order from the on-site shop, which also doubles as a café for that all-important morning caffeine fix.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely well kept site, pitches well spaced, clean toilet and shower facilities with eco friendly products provided. Site owner really welcoming and friendly, my airbed let me down and she offered to lend me one without hesitation. Great communal kitchen area which is very handy when wind and rain make cooking in the open difficult. We love the vibe on this site and will definitely be back.

Liked: Brilliant host, really accommodating and friendly. Nice little space where cars are kept separate and so for little kids its perfect as they can roam around the site with others they meet safely. well situated to reach many beaches by car, and the nearest beach can be walked to in 25 minutes. the cooking facilities are great, such that you dont need to bring your own and plenty of room and places to sit and eat. showers and toilets are clean and good quality. Also the shop with morning freshed cooked pastries is great. There are a wide variety of diffferent activities close by for little kids too (Castle, boat ride with seals, beaches, pili palas (butterflies and play parks) Will go again (repeatedly).

Disliked: the only downside is we couldn't walk to a beach quicker, but it wasn't too far, and plenty to drive to really quickly.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely fantastic stay! Location is brilliant. 5 mins from Beaumaris, good shop within easy walking distance. We drove to Snowdon, South Stack, Trearddur Bay and Conwy all in easy drive distance (30 mins or less) Loved the short grass circle pitches mowed into the longer grass. Toilets were always clean and well stocked, our whole family enjoyed the rustic/reclaimed but modern feel. The showers were powerful and hot when we used them, toiletries supplied (and required as friendly for septic tank). Plenty of room for grown up and a little one and still keep clothes and towels dry. Lots of little things thought about and provided that genuinely made a difference to our stay. Plugs and USB charging points, fridges available to use, drying racks, wheelbarrows to move stuff easily. Communal area to cook, eat and meet was lovely along with communal fireplace (which we never made it to, being too tired after our adventures!) Owners friendly and chatty. We will be back!

Disliked: Unfortunately freezer wasn't working during our stay but with fridges available, made no real difference

Local attractions

Culture fiends will find lots to occupy them on Anglesey: the medieval town of Beaumaris (five minutes’ drive) for starters, with its castle, pier and lovely seafront strolls. You have three attractions in one at Penmon Priory (10 minutes) – look for the giant cross inside the ruined Augustinian priory, an ancient well and 15th-century dovecote. Prefer a good stroll? Discover the ruins of Castell Aberlleiniog (half an hour’s walk) tucked into undergrowth in a nature reserve. Keen for some sea air? Anglesey Coastal Path (five minutes’ walk) leads past cliffs, sea arches and churches as it circumnavigates the island, and it’s an easy stroll to the lighthouse at Penmon Point (55 minutes) for views across to Puffin Island. Visit the island in person on a wildlife cruise from Beaumaris for the chance to see grey seals and dolphins, or up the thrill factor with fast-paced rib rides around the coast from Menai Bridge (20 minutes’ drive). Wear the kids out with paddleboarding and kayaking from Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre (half an hour), or for more sedate pursuits, play a round on the 18-hole course at Henlly Golf Club (10 minutes).
