Bee camping pod

  • Small-scale site on a Snowdonia smallholding close to the A470
  • A 20-minute drive to Blaenau Ffestiniog; half an hour to Snowdon
  • Village pub and shop 15 minutes’ walk
With walks around local mountains and lakes or zipwires, subterranean trampolines and mountain biking a short drive away, Camp Stesion is an almost wild camping site which is never too far from outdoorsy activities… that’s very good news for the active sorts. Just as good news for scenery seekers is that this laidback site is in a splendid part of Snowdonia and part of a small smallholding where mornings are marked by mountain views, or perhaps an early start to make the most of Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Zip World Slate Caverns and Antur Stiniog’s mountain biking trails (which are all 20 minutes’ drive away) or to climb Mount Snowdon (you'll have choice of six paths up to the summit about half an hour's drive away). This is a small-scale campsite, so you get almost the same feeling as you would out in the wilds, just with the comforts of toilets, hot showers, an outdoor sink and drinking water. There’s no wifi here, but there's good 4G coverage across the spacious pitches (each of which is about 300 square metres). In addition, each pitch has a firepit. As this is a quiet area next to the village of Trawsfynydd, the peace is kept since loud music and motorhomes are not allowed. Easy to get about? Another tick in the box. The site is just off the A470 and there’s a biking centre just 10 minutes’ drive away. Trawsfynydd is accessible on foot (15 minutes’ walk) – there you’ll be able to grab basic supplies in the village shop or cosy in for a meal in the local pub. Group bookings are not permitted; the site only accepts bookings from solo campers, couples and families.

Squirrel camping pod

Liked Such a lovely camp site really impressed with it, they have an onsite kitchen with all the bits you may of forgotten, I think being quite a small campsite meant that the all the amenities were very clean and tidy, it’s a no music camp site so perfect for that relaxing trip. I rented both pods out and could not fault the place. Highly recommend it.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great location and views! Generous pitch sizes - a little sloping?
Friendly welcome - by text.

Disliked Rather pricey... Interestingly very few people on site: 3 tents - and only one of these was a substantial tent with gazebo dining area, me and other tent were small and motorbike travellers; no-one obviously in the c.6 camping pods - at the height of the season.

From the manager: Thank you for leaving a review.
Very Interesting review I Must say ....First time anyone has ever "Disliked" having very few people onsite, Unlike other campsites we don"t overfill and we like to keep it small and quiet. We have guest's returning year after year for this very reason.
We only have 5 Camping pitches onsite and only rent out 3 so we can cut the grass frequently, It work"s well for us.
Our Pod's are very much Full this time of year but maybe as the Camp is so peaceful you didn't notice.

The price is fair for the height of season and what we have to offer, you get a generous size pitch a picnic bench plus your own personal fire-pit and most importantly Peace and Quiet is almost guaranteed, We also have a Kitchen onsite with a cooker and oven, no other campsite has these. Iv'e no idea why you dislike what we have to offer but Just goes to show you can't please everyone.
I can see you have ticked the box of "would not Visit again" and I'm ok with that :)

Fox Den with hammocks cabin

Liked Lovely place, peaceful and private spots with your own fire pit. The Fox Den was perfect for me & my son, spacious & clean inside, plus usb charging port was a bonus. Great views, hot showers & gas hob with kettle, friendly owners ensuring everything was perfect for our stay. We based ourselves here to visit Snowdon & Zip World. So many other things we wanted to do that were close by but unfortunately only had 2 days. Will be booking back into Camp Stesion when planning future adventures!

Squirrel camping pod

Liked The beautiful views

Disliked No WiFi
And mobile charging station in toilet needs updating USC is more common not USB anymore

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for leaving a review and we are glad you liked the views😊🏕️.
We have now updated our mobile charging station to UsB and UsC.
Although we do have a good 4g signal in our area We don't have wifi and we have no intention of getting any as we want our guests to talk to each other and enjoy the scenery or make a camp fire instead of scrolling on their phones.. try it it's fun ☺️.

A gem of a find , will be returning ,great location for Coed Y Brenin

Bee camping pod

Liked Stayed in the Bee and Squirrel pods , lovely pods , comfy beds and lovely bedding . Nice hot showers and facilities, didn’t use fire pit but looked a great area

Disliked Would have been useful to have a brush and pan in each pod as kept stepping grass in but apart from that absolutely no dislikes !

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you!
Good Idea, we will be placing a dustpan and brush in every pod.

Local attractions

Kicking off your getaway with some action won’t be a problem. Take a 35-minute walk to Llyn Trawsfynydd and you could be hiking, cycling or fishing. Up for a drive instead? Tear up the mountain biking trails of Coed-y-Brenin (15 minutes’ drive) and the downhill runs at Antur Stiniog (20 minutes). Zip World Slate Caverns (20 minutes) has zipwires and underground trampolines for bounces beneath the slate. A little history for you too? Blaenau Ffestiniog (20 minutes) is a historic mining town with plenty of that to explore, or you could tackle the Precipice Walk (20 minutes), a scenic trail that traces the route of an old tramway. There’s really plenty of variety around here to keep everyone busy, from the Pistyll y Cain (20 minutes) waterfall to Barmouth’s seaside amusements and many outdoor activities (35 minutes).
