  • Small, friendly adults-only touring park in the village of Bethel
  • A 10-minute drive to Caernarfon; 20 minutes to Llanberis
  • Spacious pitches with electric hook-up; dogs welcome
North Wales is often a relaxed place to spend a few days – but there’s an extra boost of fabulous rural peace when you stay at Pen y Buarth. There are only a handful of touring pitches at this Gwynedd site, and they’re reserved for adults only. There may not be kids on site here, but there are a few animals to meet as this is part of a family smallholding. Dogs are welcome to join you for a break at Pen y Buarth, but they’ll need to be kept under control so they don’t interfere with the livestock. With limited guest numbers on site, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out – each of the grass pitches is pleasingly spacious and provided with an electric hook-up. Shared facilities include water points, chemical disposal and a bathroom with toilets and showers (please note there’s an extra charge for the showers). This friendly spot is in an excellent location for exploring several parts of North Wales – it’s just on the edge of Snowdonia National Park (about 20 minutes’ drive from Llanberis), 10 minutes’ drive from Caernarfon and within half an hour’s drive of popular spots on Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula. It’s also a handy location for eats, as it’s on the edge of the village of Bethel, which has a community café serving up excellent breakfasts, lunches and cream teas. A bus service runs from the village to Caernarfon every hour if you need more eating options or shops.

Fully-serviced grass motorhome pitch

Liked: This is a lovely peaceful and safe place to stay. The owners are lovely and always happy to help. Beautiful field opposite with the most friendly sheep ever. Clean toilet and shower facilities. Adults only so you can really switch off and relax. Its set in a quiet little town but handy for everywhere if you want to go off exploring. I will certainly be going back for another visit. Oh and you can get lovely farm fresh eggs too :-)

Fully-serviced grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The location, it was close to most local attractions in North Wales, the site itself was nice and clean and the owner was pleasant.

Disliked: We booked a fully serviced pitch which wasn’t the case as there was not enough water points for each caravan so these were shared. This is an adult only site and there were 2 small children staying in a motorhome one night which I thought should not of been allowed especially as this was our reason for booking an adult only site. There was also another dog on site which kept running around everywhere and in the horse field on site, dogs are supposed to be on leads on this site again this was not the case.

Fully-serviced grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Loved that there was an option for an electric hook up at the pitch. It’s a lovely place to stay with toilets and showers on site. The site is only about a 10 minute drive away from Caernarfon.

Fully-serviced grass motorhome pitch

Liked: This was a very clean site and an adult only which suited us as we can be grumpy old people. Site was nice and not far from Caernarfon itself. Owners were lovely and friendly and you couldn’t wish for more pleasant people. Bangor is not too far away either and Holyhead is approximately half hour drive so its a good central spot for many of the major attractions in North Wales.

Disliked: I was expecting this place to be practically in the middle of nowhere however it was on the outskirts of the village of Bethel. There was no real decent walks to go on to take your dog for a walk first thing in the morning so had to make do with a little walk around the village then take a drive out for a decent one. There is no village shop although approximately 8 minutes drive and you can find a supermarket in Caernarfon but when you get there I would be like to have been able to nip to a local shop to buy the necessities. Phone signal is very poor so if you want to plan what you want to do internet connection is a struggle and quite frustrating. Great that this place is trying to be energy efficient but trying to find or having to source coins for the shower was a nuisance and maybe an alternative method would be better like buying tokens for the duration that you are there as we are becoming an increasing cashless society.
