  • Friendly Eryri/Snowdonia site on the banks of the River Glaslyn
  • Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon Watkin Path five minutes' drive away
  • Beddgelert's cafés, pubs and railway station less than a mile away
What a gorgeous spot for a break in the fresh air of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Cae Du Campsite is on the banks of the River Glaslyn less than a mile from the pretty village of Beddgelert. Now, if you’ve heard of Beddgelert, that may well be because it’s known as something of a hub for approachable walking trails, and it’s got a Welsh Highland Railway station – and both of these elements make it a good base for exploring your surroundings. On top of that, the village has its own attraction in the form of Gelert’s Grave, and it’s got several pubs, cafés and craft shops too. The walks from Beddgelert aren’t the only options around here, of course – in fact, one of the national park’s big (literally) attractions is just up the road in the form of Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the trailhead for the Watkin Path, passing the pretty Llyn Dinas lake as you go (handy for a post-climb wild swim perhaps?) And there’s plenty more to keep you busy… including a short walk to the excellent Sygun Copper Mine, an outing to the beach in Porthmadog, an adrenaline-filled excursion to Zip World Llechwedd or history-tinged wanders around the castles of Criccieth and Caernarfon. Little bit tired after whichever outing you chose? Well, there’s plenty of space to relax back at the park, and you should hopefully sleep well in these peaceful surroundings. Wifi, a washing-up area, a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers are on hand to make life comfortable, and you’ll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light a campfire to finish your day in traditional camping style.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We were treated with a friendly welcomed , and an informative run down of all information needed to make the most of the experience. We were provided with a really nice area to pitch, with stunning views from all areas of the camp! Facilities clearly are kept super cleaned , and a lot of water points! The fellow campers also were super friendly, and the general atmosphere was super peaceful. We were so chuffed with what we got from the experience, at a really reasonable price! We will definitely be returning!

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch (water hook-up)

Liked: So much space for us on our hard standing pitch. Fantastic location. Quiet and peaceful when we visited. 15 mins walk max to the town. Beautiful picnic areas. Many hikes from the site. Nice facilities.

Disliked: NOTHING. However could get very busy in peak times as there are so many pitches marked out. A later checkout and an off lead dog playing area would be a fantastic addition.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch (water hook-up)

Liked: Great location, easy walk into Beddgelert, where there are lots of good places to eat and drink. Fabulous bus service too. Good campsite facilities. Showers were really clean, strong and hot. Friendly staff.

Disliked: Only thing was there was work going on to the site during our stay - but this will make the site better in the future so we didn’t mind

Electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: We had an amazing stay. The staff are approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable. The facilities are 10/10, they are well-kept, clean, and comfortable to use. The WiFi is also great. There is plenty to do in the local area, aside from just hiking Snowdon. In terms of hiking Snowdon, it is a short drive away and there is good public transport taking you to the start point of any of the routes. We will definitely be back here soon.

Electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: The pitch space was amazing, lots of space and very private. Staff are very friendly and always on hand. The showers are very clean, with lovely hot water. It’s in a beautiful spot, a very short walk to Beddgelert, great places to eat and drink. We had a fab weekend and will be back. This campsite is well kept and one of the best we have stayed on.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass tent pitch (backpacker, no cars)

Liked: Location was spectacular, ground was ok for BP as weather had been grim, can't wait to return in better conditions. Little walk to the village which is very picturesque and has some great places to eat, cafe, gift shop well worth a visit. Short drive to Watkins path and great caffi on route

Disliked: Initially not being able to get hold of staff late on.. But then heard they are in a static on site! Wish I had know before hand as signal is poor even with their Wi-Fi

Electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Beautiful location and really friendly, helpful staff. Despite the bad weather (Storm Kathleen) the pitches weren’t waterlogged and we still got our tent up and stayed dry, very spacious pitches and well spaced out too. Nice and simple amenities, close to a small village for supplies and a pub too.
