Experience a taste of the good life at Woodlands Lodge, where you’ll be staying in a cosy cabin that’s part of a smallholding in the Flintshire countryside. Up here on a Welsh hillside you’ll be surrounded by chickens, ducks, goats and sheep, with fresh chicken and duck eggs available every day from the honesty box on the lane. The cabin makes a lovely little place to stay for a restful break – it’s got a rural feel to it but it’s actually just on the edge of the town of Buckley, so it’s an easy walk of 10/15 minutes to get to shops, pubs and the like. Heading further afield, it’s a 10-minute drive to Mold, 20 minutes to Chester and about 35 minutes to the beaches around Rhyl. The owners have managed to pack a whole lot of useful things into this compact space – a comfy double bed made up with luxury bedding, a well-equipped kitchen area, a table, satellite TV and a wifi connection, plus a private toilet and shower. Extra little touches include a variety of teas, snacks and breakfast bits for your arrival, and a small retail shelf with handmade products from the farm to purchase. Outside, it’s all just as enticing – the decked area has a table and chairs from where you can see all the animals, and a few steps lead down to the swing chair and firepit. Just across the path is a small secluded area with a small pond, a chiminea and fairy lights wound round the trees for a magical after-dark vibe. You’ll also be able to cosy up in the waterproof enclosed love seat by the cabin – just the place for a glass of wine in the evening…
