  • Well-kept rural Denbighshire site raising money for charity
  • A 10-minute drive to the beaches of Rhyl and Prestatyn
  • Catering on site from Friday eve to Sunday morning
Want to book yourself a break and do some good for the world at the same time? What an excellent idea – and one that you can bring to reality when you stay at Pet Rescue Fundraising Camp Site, a five-acre site in the Denbighshire countryside just outside the village of Dyserth. Profits from stays go towards funding a pet rescue charity centre, so perhaps it’s no surprise that dogs are welcome to join you for a little holiday here. Doggy daycare is available for those who need it, and all dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times (and you’ll need proof of up-to-date vaccinations for your pet to stay on site to ensure that all pets on site, including the site's rescue pets, stay protected from illness). This location makes a splendid spot for exploring north Wales – a cycle path runs past the entrance with a link to the North Wales Coastal Route, and there are plenty of walks around too. Rhyl and Prestatyn are both about 10 minutes’ drive away for beach times, and there are castles, gardens and all sorts of other things to fill days with. You’ll probably get a bit of a warm glow from knowing that you’re supporting a charitable cause by staying here – and that’s likely to grow even stronger when you see the facilities that have been provided. A washing-up area, toilets and showers are all included, and you can boost your break even further by hiring a firepit, grass heat shields (these are required for firepits or barbecues) or a windbreak. Logs can be purchased on site for the firepits. And that’s not all – there’s also a catering area that serves up cooked breakfasts, lunches, dinners and drinks (hot, cold and alcoholic) as well as running events like pizza nights and hotpot gatherings. The catering is open from Friday evening to Sunday morning breakfast.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Everything onsite. Washing up facilities, toilet, showers, waste disposal, fresh water. Really friendly staff, good WiFi, big open space and felt very safe.
Loved the fact it’s a fund raising campsite, very cheap for what you get and all for a good cause. Well done guys, keep up the hard work.

Disliked: Nothing. It was perfect.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Good sized flat pitches, good facilities, clean toilets

Disliked: smell of manure, but hey were camping in the countryside was not a problems atall for me.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and the good country air :) The farmers around have only certain time to get the field ready for crops I afraid part of the prep is spreading manure normally it rains and the smell is then washed into the ground but hay-hoe the sun shone brightly and the smell lingered, but it put food on the table so I'm glad it didn't bother you so much. Thanks for the review and we hope to see you on your next visit. Until then happy camping and very safe travels.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The location and park

Disliked: The toilets and pot washing facilities dirty and never cleaned from Friday to Sunday, tiny sinks in toilets no actual room for washing, or brushing teeth, pitches had lots of divets in, electric is over priced, the terms and conditions make no sense as a driver and a mother i parked my car best suited to our pitch for the safety of my children, I was told this was wrong and I had to move my car. No signal for phones

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: The toilets and pot wash area are cleaned daily, but sadly we cant help if other campers are messy or children are left to use them on there own.
The small hand sinks in the toilet units are large enough to clean teeth but are not meant for have a personal wash we have showers or you can use your washing-up bowl with free hot water to use in your own accommodation in private.
We ask pitch users to park on their pitch or in a car parking area, we have found if cars are outside the pitch boundary children can run out and not be seen by drivers so it's a safety matter.
Having no phone signal is your providers problem not ours.
The electric meter cost are clearly stated on Pitchup T&C as well as on our confirmation email With a £20 meter deposit reading taken before and after if you used more than £20 (and your fan-heater will) then you are asked to pay for what you used, most campers have a refund as I showed you on our system or tried to show you while you were shouting. I am very sad you managed to find so many faults while other people enjoyed their stay and your children defiantly did.
We wish you well and happier camping experiences in the future on other sites, but please remember all prices have risen on all sites just like at home.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful setting, so lucky to watch the sun come up over the hills after seeing the stars and full moon come out too, the night before.

Lots of friendly, chatty people on site and really helpful staff

Swings and few other bits for kids to do

10 minute walk into Dyserth to the New Inn for a bite to eat.

Only 2 miles from lovely beaches in Prestatyn - easily walkable but very busy road.

Disliked: Not a dislike, more an observation. The facilities are a little tired (as all the money goes into caring for the rescued animals) but perfectly functional and spotlessly clean.

Couldnt award more than one star for WiFi as there isn't any at all, which is totally fine.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: A couple swings

Disliked: porta loos and in our field hand wash for toilets wash shared with washing up .....big no no. Also is was set up in a car park fashion and would be better on a free for all where you can park where you like...... the main camping pitch was better to stay on although the toilets and sinks very basic.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: O dear you didn't read your map or information sheet given on arrival. The portable toilets on site 2 are for night time convenance only, and there was hand sanitiser in all 4 toilets unless they went walk about (if you had report it we could replace them), as the main flushing toilets with hand wash sinks are a few yards away on site 1.

We did try setup anywhere and it caused so many rows with campers we put in bays that most people like the main site is set out exactly the same. Ps two flushing toilet blocks each has toilets ladies and gents sides and the units have sinks for hand washing surly that's what is required ? evidentially not up to your standers.
We are sorry you didn't enjoy your one night stay and wish you happier camping on other sites

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The campsite had a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, featuring a small park at its center where kids could play safely. Additional amenities like a small bar and a catering van added to the convenience. The site was clean and well maintained throughout. Would happily camp here again.

Disliked: Nothing to improve, overall enjoyed the stay and felt welcome.

Local attractions

Time to hit the coast? Take your bucket and spade to the sandy beaches of Rhyl or Prestatyn (both 10 minutes’ drive), get over to Llandudno (half an hour) to walk on the pier and ride the Great Orme tramway, or continue to Conwy (half an hour) to explore the castle. For rural walks you can stay local for the 15-minute stroll to Dyserth Falls, climb the peaks of the neighbouring Clwydian Range or dip your toes into Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes’ drive). The pretty pathways of Bodnant Garden (half an hour) are well worth a wander too. This being Wales, you’re never far from a castle – the turrets of Rhuddlan Castle (five minutes) are the closest, but TV fans may like to drop in at Gwrych Castle (15 minutes) to see where I’m A Celeb was staged.
