Electric grass pitch (small)

Liked: The campsite is well organized, with a clear floor plan indicating where to set up our tent. Also, it has WiFi connection for visitors to use. Additionally, we appreciate the beautiful and clean toilet and shower facilities. Highly recommended to anyone!

Disliked: The road we drive into the camp site lacks corner mirrors, making it easy for cars to collide when driving in or out from both directions.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely clean well kept site, lovely modern shower/loo block with music. Recycle area. Dog friendly. Well priced with good sized pitches. WiFi on and off which sometimes isn’t a bad thing on holiday. Would stay again but not on the same pitch.

Disliked: The pitch location we had was at the side of grass pitches were campers with tents were pitched they were quite close and noisy.

Electric grass pitch (small)

Liked: Toilet facilities very clean and modern. 4 toilets and 4 showers in the women’s, which was ample. Hot water which was added bonus! Lovely and quiet. Lots of open space for children to play and make friends. Clean and well maintained. Grass was even cut whilst we were there!! Spacious pitches, nicely spaced meaning didn’t feel like people were camping on top of us. Didn’t use the washing machines but saw lots of people using. Good area for washing dishes.

Disliked: No complaints.

Electric grass pitch (large)

Liked: Wow, what a wonderful find! We stayed for 3 nights on a hard standing tourer pitch. Loads of room, every hard standing has its own water and waste and are very level. The toilet block is lovely, laundry room has a fridge and chest freezer which I thought was a great touch especially for the people in tents. Easy access to the coast, little chippy in the village near by and an ice cream van which visits most days in the evening. The lanes to the camp site are small, but we were fine towing the van through them, just take your time.… we went the long way round as well (came in from the south). We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived! What a gem of a site! We will definitely be back!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike !!!

Route directions

Using a satnav is not recommended, as they often take you through narrow country lanes. From Abergele town centre, head west towards Llanddulas. At the end of the castle wall, turn left for Rhyd-y-Foel. Go through the village, then take the second lane on the left, signposted for the site. The park entrance is the first turning on the left.

Local attractions

Can't wait for the coast? It's 10 minutes' drive to Abergele’s beach or 15 to get to the sandy stretch at Colwyn Bay. If you like a bit of activity while you're there, there’s a seafront cycle path in Abergele, or you could tackle one of the great walks around the Great Orme headland in Llandudno (20 minutes). A cable car and tramway head to the summit if your legs don't fancy the hike. A short way back from the coast (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to meet all manner of animals at the Welsh Mountain Zoo; a similar length of drive should get you to the National Trust-owned Bodnant Garden to stroll through 80 acres of plants gathered from around the world. If it's castles you're after, tick several off your list with visits to Bodelwyddan (15 minutes), Rhuddlan (20 minutes), Conwy (20 minutes) and Caernarfon (45 minutes). Snowdonia National Park's a splendid place for a day or few too – head to Llanrwst (half an hour) or Betws-y-Coed (35 minutes) for walks, Gwydir Forest Park (50 minutes) for mountain biking or Adventure Parc Snowdonia (half an hour) for gorge walking, paddleboarding and a surfing lake.
