Liked: The garden at entrance and garden outside cafe
Disliked: No reception upon arrival. No where near enough bathrooms/showers for the amount of people on the campsite. The pods/yurts/lodges don’t have any toilets either so all campers are sharing 2 showers. Facilities were far from clean. The “squeaky clean on site kitchen” as mentioned in the site description is actually just one sink to wash dishes. We noticed a theme with these inaccurate descriptions as we noticed the yurts are a lot closer than in the advertised pictures, they don’t have a permit to fish on the “private stretch of river” just the pond. The “shop” is in the cafe/bar which closed very early both nights of the bank holiday. I appreciate it’s a lot of work for two people but don’t accept that many bookings and advertise a “late bar on bank holidays” if this cannot be catered for - false advertising in my opinion. Only one bin at the very top of the road and at the end of the stay, when putting a small bag of rubbish in the overcrowded bin, the male owner had a go at us for not recycling rather aggressively. Had he spoken to us nicely (at any part of our stay) or had we known it was a requirement at the beginning of our stay, we would have kindly separated our rubbish. However as we were met with such attitude, it left a sour taste in our mouth as we were leaving. So much so we decided we would rather spend our money elsewhere for breakfast. Owners were not very friendly, especially the man and this is echoed by other reviews left on pitch up, google and tripadvisor. We wish we listened to other reviews as they are all rather similar and from looking at the managers/owners responses, they cannot take criticism well despite all suggestions being similar. We would definitely not be returning.

Camping pod (no pets, two person)
Liked: We didn't get there till around 8.30pm due to the trains and the buses stopping at 5pm on a Saturday. But we called and the wonder came out really fast to give us the key fire pit and wood. The pod was lovely was nice and warm when we walked in the bed was very comfy we both slept very well, there was plates, mugs cutlery, kettle and toaster a table and 2 chairs. There was also 2 small draws next to the bed. We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely stay, room was clean and the pod was cosy. Staff we saw were all very polite and helpful. I'm sure the owner name was Julie but she was very helpful and even tried to help us get a taxi and when we wasn't Abel to she tried her best to sort a lift out for us. We didn't really use the bar as we went out till late in the evening but the bar is really reasonable prices when we did use it a beer is 4 pound and a single spirit is 4 pound 25. The time we stayed a lot of staff were on holiday so Julie was working so hard so breakfast (we got there late morning) was baps but they were nice and we enjoyed them. We didn't have dinner or lunch there so can not comment. The tea came in a cute little teapot. The pod and bar area are decorated in a beautiful way makes it very cosy and homely. The toilet and showers were clean and had toilet roll where the pods are is also 2 porta loos but again for porta loos were very clean and was happy to use them. There is a fishing pond that lots of people where using. It's has beautiful views and a lovely vibe with lots of children all playing together. It was quiet at night so you can get a good night's sleep. Would highly recommend going into Welch pool lots of little pubs the castle is beautiful and so many deer you can see on the walk the steam train is amazing to takes you to a little village. We didn't walk the hill but there is a hill you could walk with beautiful views close by to the camp site to. As well as a church. One review on here mentions Sam in a negative way but can confirm he was friendly and welcoming he is most definitely not a raging alcoholic who is rude or aggressive. Both owners were more than welcoming, friendly and kind. All staff including the youns staff were all very friendly smily and helping and very hard working. Shop they have there has theost beautiful items but a little expensive for me Julie opend it up with request straight away. Has a beautiful area outside you can sit in the sunshine with a drink. There is also a field next to it with sheep and cows. Overall we had a brilliant time. I don't no if they have WiFi as I didn't use it. Only reason we possibly wouldnt stay again is because it's a little difficult to access without driving. We also like to explore new places and don't often return to the same place once we have explored and done what is near by.
Disliked: If you do not drive the location is really difficult to get to the postcode also took the taxis we got the time we was there got lots with the postcode as it takes you to a housing estate. Taxi cha he price depending on time and what day it was from Shrewsbury using vezuu were between 21.20-19 pound I would advice prebooking. The location without driving is very difficult to get anywhere. The buses don't run at all on a Sunday and stop running on a sat at 5pm (from Shrewsbury) there is one bus that stops really close the other you can get is a 18 min walk. It was a shame there wasn't a full fry up however there was no veggie sausages left the first morning and it was to late in the morning and the next day they were only Abel to do baps but where very honest about it. Although I wouldn't let it out you off just be prepared if you do not drive it is very difficult to get about specially on a weekend or if you like staying out later into the evening. Of course the public transport is no fault of the camp site just a heads up of like us you do not drive. Pod isn't the same and definitely not the same location as the one shown in the photos on the website. Please see my photo of the location outside the 2 person pod.

Camping pod (no pets, four person)
Liked: The pod was cosy and clean. Location was quiet. Shower facilities good.
Disliked: No reception when we arrived. Facilities weren’t open for our stay. The cafe/bar/farm shop is actually one building and was all closed from 4pm, and even if we had arrived earlier the shop only had cake.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Sorry that Brook House wasn’t for you. Not sure what you mean by no reception in the booking confirmation & it states to check in at the potting shed & also contains my phone number. As you arrived after 4pm on a Thursday yes the cafe/bar was closed but it clearly states on pitch up our opening & closing times. The cafe/bar/shop doesn’t only sell cakes we have a breakfast & lunchtime menu with daily specials. Below is taken from pitch up.. The café/bar is open daily on bank holiday weekends and school holidays from 9am until late. On all other dates it is open: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 9am to 4pm; Fridays from 9am until late; and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. It is closed on Mondays.
Nice area along the river and facilities were clean.

Liked: The bar was nice and the food looked good. The staff were friendly, location was fantastic.
Disliked: We make these comments from stay on a Bank Holiday weekend, when the ground was still very wet. For us the whole site was rather disjointed with lots of different types of accommodation jumbled together. We thought the current toilet provision was not adequate for the number of people on site and visitors to the bar.

From the manager: Thank you for review sorry that Brook House wasn't for you. Unfortunately the ground was very wet due to all the rain that everyone has had, that is why the touring pitches are on hard standing - if only we could control the weather :-) Not sure if you had ventured down to the family and adult camping fields but there was more toilets down there not just the ones at the top.
Lovely site but need more facilities for showering/toilets

Liked: Very welcoming couple and the cafe/restaurant/bar is a breath of fresh air and really lovely food. The gardens and layout of the site is idyllic and wonderful.
Disliked: However when it came to the facilities we found that there are only two showers with full toilet/basins and only one other toilet for the whole of the site. Considering the site caters for not only caravans and motorhomes, tents and lodges they definately need more dedicated toilet/shower facilites to ensure you don't end up having to wait via a que for the facilites to become free?

From the manager: Thank you for review sorry that Brook House wasn't for you. Glad you liked the cafe/bar/food and the grounds. From your review I am going to presume you hadn't ventured down to where the lodges, family and adult camping fields were as there is more toilets down there.
