  • Well-equipped touring pitches at a rural Mid Wales site near Caersws
  • A 10-minute drive to Llanidloes and 15 minutes to Newtown
  • Restaurant, two bars, adventure playground and crazy golf on site
Travelling Wales in a caravan or motorhome? Make your way to Mid Wales site Meadow Springs Country and Leisure Park for a scenic stay amid the lovely landscapes of the Trannon Valley. Pitches at this park are specifically designed for van-based stays, so they’re flat and made of hardstanding materials – and at nine square metres they’re big enough to cope with most sizes of motorhome or caravan. All pitches here are serviced, and there’s an Elsan point as well. Plenty of other facilities are provided too, to make sure that everything’s nicely convenient – a modern shower/toilet block has accessible facilities, baby changing and space for families, and there’s a utility room for washing up and laundry. Essentials all dealt with, it’s time for the fun stuff – the park has nearly four miles of scenic country pathways to stroll along, and the touring park is just next to the play area with crazy golf, an adventure playground, football and badminton. Dogs are welcome to come along and join you here, taking in the walks by your side or heading to the dog exercise area to run about off lead and meet new pals. It’s all very rural in atmosphere here, but you’re not far from amenities if you want them – it’ll take you about 20 minutes to walk to the village of Trefeglwys with its pub, or five minutes to drive to Caersws for a couple more pubs, shops and a fish and chip shop. If that’s all a bit too far away, it’s handy to know that Arthur’s Restaurant & Bar is on hand right there in the park for meals and drinks; as it gets busy, you may need to book a table in advance. There's also a second bar, named Jesse's, which has Sky TV and permits dogs.

What customers say

Lovely, spotless site, friendly staff, spacious pitches, and great facilities. Arthur's Restaurant is a gem! Loads for kids and dogs. Just a heads-up on Wi-Fi and the dog rule in the restaurant.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (tents not permitted)

Liked We absolutely loved everything about the campervan site.Electric hook up great and water hook right next to it.Really good size pitch.Toilets were super clean and never a que.Showers were lovely you could tell they were cleaned each day.Hair dryer free of charge. There was a washing room for clothes and dishes. There was so many areas to explore big walks and even a huge secure dog exercise area that we stumbled across as the place is that big! Theres even a dog wash station. We even went over to the play area and had a go on the sip line. The bar is beautiful and staff were really friendly and its dog friendly and we didn’t go in the restaurant but had a look through the window and it looked stunning.Easy check in system.Felt really safe couldn’t recommend more.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (tents not permitted)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here. Very warm welcome from all the staff on site. The facilities were lovely, clean and warm. The pitches were a great size, well maintained and spaced out. Beautiful views across the countryside and nice quiet location. The site is a good size, space on site to walk your dog and also some trails from the campsite, Clive in reception was very helpful providing a route map for any trails we wanted to do. A real stand out for us was the onsite bar, it was lovely and warm, nice drinks and food. Jesse’s bar is dog friendly too, and the staff in there could not do enough for us.

Disliked Given the location of the site I think it is missing an onsite shop, there are no shops in walking distance really and so we had to drive off site to get a pint of milk. Other than that small detail we loved it here.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (adults only)

Liked Lovely stay at Meadow Springs, on arrival we had a problem with our pitch in that the waste pipe we had wasn’t long enough to reach the grid which was placed behind the pitch next to us and not in the middle. Even though it was a bank holiday, we called the emergency number and we were given another pitch which was more suitable. The site is new and immaculate, Jesse’s bar was lovely as was the meal we had in Arthur’s restaurant, food and service was amazing, we had to cancel our dessert as couldn’t have possibly fit one in as the main meal was so filling. This is far better than going to a fancy restaurant where the food is minimal and you’re still left hungry. Visited Hafren forest which was stunning albeit freezing. Plan to book again in the Summer, we will definitely be back.

Disliked Not much in the immediate area but that’s fine if you are happy to travel.

Showers were on a button timer which is way too short (about 12 seconds) so that was a bit annoying while you are trying to shampoo your hair without getting cold.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (tents not permitted)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at the park, it’s very well maintained and the facilities are clean and tidy. The adventure playground for children is so good, we couldn’t get our 2 year old to leave. The dog fields and walks around the park were perfect, we will definitely be staying there again. Also the staff were very polite and helpful, it’s one of the top parks we’ve stayed at.

Disliked The online dislike we had was that the shower stayed on for 10 seconds before having to press the button again and if your washing your hair it’s very frustrating

Local attractions

The Mid Wales countryside is packed with places to get out for a walk among the gorgeous scenery – the Elan Valley (35 minutes) is perhaps one of the better known areas, with waterfalls, reservoirs and a great family-friendly trail along an old railway line. It’s also worth stopping by at Clywedog Dam (15 minutes) and seeking out the Source of the River Severn (half an hour). You may spot wildlife as you walk, but for guaranteed sightings, take a visit to the Red Kite Feeding Station (half an hour). For a sense of the area’s history and traditions, visit the shops in Llanidloes (10 minutes), see old crafts at Newtown Textile Museum and learn about mining life at the Silver Mountain Experience (35 minutes). Powis Castle and Garden (40 minutes) is a good bet for history buffs, art lovers, garden gurus and families alike. Fancy a breath of seaside air? Head to the west coast to visit Aberystwyth or hit the beach in Aberdyfi (both about 55 minutes).
