What customers say

A gem run by the community! Praised for its cracking modern facilities and staff who'll bend over backwards. Lovely riverside spot, short stroll to Wick. Pitches are decent, but some thought the temporary loos needed a spruce-up (new ones on the way!). Cracking base for the NC500.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked Great site, shop, new toilet&shower blocks. Nice walk along river into Wick.

Disliked Pitches are quite close to one another.

Keep in mind the low bridge at the main entrance and the alternate route that you need to take if in an Motorhome along the river and park /playground narrow road.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked One of the best sites I've stayed at. Phil & Christine, the Wardens, clearly take pride in their job, really helpful & approachable. Another guest, a regular, told me the site has been so much better since the current Wardens came. I'm sure the place wouldn't be the same without them.

Disliked My cable wasn't long enough to reach the hook-up point from my pitch, but easily resolved by the Warden, who lent me a longer one.

From the manager: Thank you for the review.

We are sorry you did not enjoy Wick. The town is steeped in history and has so much to offer including the amazing Heritage Centre, Caithness Sea Coast, two Victorian tidal swimming pools, Ebenezer Place (The worlds shortest Street), The Black Stairs where L.S. Lowery painted "The Steps At Wick", Old Wick Castle, The Caithness At War and Telford Trails, Orca watching at the Trinkie, amazing coastal and riverside walks, Wick Marina, as well as 15 sit down eating establishments and 11 takeaways. Staxigoe Harbour, Sinclair Girnigoe Castle, Reiss Golf Course and Reiss Beach are also all within a few miles.

Everything. Friendly, helpful staff. Fab amenities.…

Local attractions

Wick, of course, is the place to start – you can walk into the centre of town to visit the Wick Heritage Centre, grab a dram or two at Pulteney Distillery or head to the harbour to book a boat trip taking you out among the sea stacks and along the cliffs to see if you can spot seals, puffins and other marine life. Elsewhere along the coast, find the ruins of Castle of Old Wick (10 minutes’ drive) and Sinclair Girnigoe Castle (15 minutes), explore the intriguing stone creations at Hill O’ Many Stanes (15 minutes) or check out the natural rock formations at Whaligoe Steps (15 minutes) and Duncansby Stacks (25 minutes). Of course you can’t miss the opportunity to go up to the very north of Scotland to visit John O’Groats (25 minutes) and RSPB Dunnet Head (40 minutes). While you’re in the area, stop by at the 16th-century Castle & Gardens of Mey (half an hour) or take a detour to Reiss Sands (10 minutes) for a stroll among the dunes.
