The Bankhead Shepherd's Huts team are rightly proud of this Stirlingshire site. With a very special setting in central Scotland, this cosy hut accommodation has access to all sorts of scenery, from the mighty walls of Stirling Castle to the lochs and mountains of the Trossachs, either of which can be reached in a quick quarter of an hour's drive. Views from the accommodation look out towards the Gargunnock Hills, and the site as a whole is a haven for wildlife: look out for hares, red squirrels or deer grazing in the field to the front. More animals are just around the corner, as Bankhead Shepherd's Huts is right beside Blair Drummond Safari Park; if you buy tickets to visit the park during your time here, you'll benefit from unlimited entry for the rest of your stay. The hut sleeps two adults and two children in comfy beds (a kingsize double and a bunk above it) and comes with a well-appointed living space, kitchen and bathroom with a WC and shower. To keep you cosy, a woodburning stove and firepit are provided, and there's outdoor furniture too for open-air relaxing. The nearest town is Doune, a mile and a half away, where there are local shops and a castle, while an award-winning farm shop can be reached within walking distance. The historic city of Stirling (15 minutes' drive) is home to iconic landmarks like its vast medieval castle and the towering Wallace Monument, but there are also amenities in town like supermarkets, petrol stations and a cinema. On top of that, Scotland's biggest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh, can both be reached by road in well under an hour.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: We absolutely loved it!! Peaceful, luxurious and complete, very tranquil and quiet, beautiful setting, beautiful little hut. Lovely views and so comfortable. It had every you need and more. Nearby is an excellent farm shop with breakfast and lunch facilities. Also great products like pies and pastries to prepare in the hut. Had some small issues with the pressure of the electric shower a few times but nothing to spoil the fun. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return. It was excellent!

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Getting there was a breeze as you're off the motorway and on a straight road to the location so no long windy roads. Lovely location and the view you have is not done justice by the pics here. Hut is larger than you'd imagine as well! Great facilities and bedding & towels, along with working TV and Wifi, within the self contained hut. We had a lovely 2 night stay with our small wuffer who also loved her stay as much as we did. Local shops are not far and if you're looking for a lovely (GF) breakfast or lunch then the dog friendly Blair Drummond Smiddy cafe is excellent. The peace and quiet was sublime and will be back again for sure.

Disliked: We did arrive at tail end of first 2022 extreme heatwave so do take fans as can get hot inside. Not a dislike at all as it was exceptionally hot on the day of our arrival (30c+)!
