Shepherds Hut Exterior

General

  • Cosy shepherd's hut on a quiet hill with spectacular views
  • A couple of minutes' drive from Doune, and 15 minutes from Stirling
  • Sleeps two adults and two kids; with kitchen, bathroom and firepit

The Bankhead Shepherd's Huts team describe this Scottish and Stirlingshire site as ‘luxury meets the great outdoors’ – and how right they are: this is upscale glamping accommodation in a secluded and scenic location with lots to do close by.

The central Scotland setting is pretty special here, as Bankhead Shepherd's Huts is right beside Blair Drummond Safari Park, with plenty of walks and bike rides nearby. Views are towards the Gargunnock hills and the hut is in a wildlife haven: look out for hares and red squirrels, or the deer grazing out the field in front. Taking to the car, Bankhead is a short journey from Stirling, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

If you don’t want to stir even that far, that’s also sorted: a footpath immediately opposite the site leads to a swathe of 19th-century ornamental woodland; birdwatching at Quarry Loch is half a mile away, and more walks – and bike rides – are around the grounds or a short drive away.

The hut sleeps two adults and two children, in comfy beds (a kingsize double and a bunk above it), and comes with a comfortable living space, well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a WC and shower. There’s also a woodburning stove and outdoor table.

The nearest town is Doune, a mile and a half or a couple of minutes’ drive away. A farm shop is within walking distance and the large town of Stirling's supermarkets, petrol stations and cinema is 15 minutes' drive.

We loved the location, views and layout of the hut! The hut was very clean and had everything needed to cater for a family. The kids loved the bunk beds, being able to roam free in the field and being able to watch a film at the end of a long day outside!

The bed was very comfy, we loved the log burning fire which was perfect for drying out our boots.

The shepherd hut was in an amazing location even though it felt so remote it was a 10 min drive from Stirling. It was also really close to Loch Lomond, where there was lots of family bike rides and walks.

We had an amazing Autumnal family get away.

Fantastic stay at the Shepherd's hut, thank you. The hut is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean and, for such a wee building, it is both well equipped and feels remarkably spacious. Fantastic quiet, safe spot for the kids to play and they did love the tv, wifi, log burner and dishwasher (!) on an evening. Excellent communications with the owners and lovely little info pack was very helpful. Highly recommend and look forward to staying again.
