  • Perthshire holiday park by the West Highland Way near Crianlarich
  • A 40-minute drive to Inveraray Castle, and 20 minutes to Glencoe
  • On-site basics store; pub, cafés and souvenir shop five minutes’ walk
Whether you’re a hiker or travelling on four wheels, Tyndrum Holiday Park is a more-than-handy base near Crianlarich in Perthshire. Close to the West Highland Way walking route between Fort William and Milngavie, it’s also just off the A82 for speedy car journeys to Oban (55 minutes’ drive) and the ferry to Mull. If you’re using public transport, there are easy bus links and two railway stations at Tyndrum too. Kids on holiday with you? Keep them entertained at the on-site play park and with loads of family-friendly walks nearby, including the sculptures and fairy houses on the Gruffalo Trail (five minutes’ walk) just across the road. Dogs are welcome too, and it’s certainly no hardship to take them for walkies in the spectacular Highland scenery that surrounds the park. Facilities-wise, the site has a shower block, washing-up area and launderette (the latter particularly useful for walkers who've got a bit muddy on the local trails), as well as a basic on-site shop at reception. A couple of mini-markets are in Tyndrum village, as well as cafés and a pub serving meals if cooking is not part of your holiday agenda. And don’t forget to have a wander around the famous Green Welly Stop (five minutes' drive away), where you can buy pretty much anything from tartan scarves to haggis.

What customers say

Lovely, well-kept site by the river, grand for walkers & families. Staff are a friendly lot, pitches are spacious, and it's handy for the village. Toilets & showers are clean, though a few reckon more shower blocks are needed when it's busy. A bit of road noise now and then.

Hiker camping pod (large)

Liked Fantastic place to stay. We stayed in a hiker pod. Simple but clean and perfect for our family trip. Facilities block has everything you expect, clean and all working. Really friendly and helpful staff. Very surprised to have WiFi in the pod. Very handy for getting maps working before heading out. We will be visiting again as it’s a perfect base for day trips. Local amenities in Tyndrum are great for the highlands.

Disliked Hot water was REALLY HOT in the showers was watch out if you are taking little ones in there as you can’t turn it down. Apart from that nothing.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very convenient for walks, restaurants,

Disliked The shower, wash room, inadequate for the size of the site. No hot water when we arrived at 3.00 and no hot water in the morning, husband had a cold shave.
The mop and pail to clean the floor was dirty , had never been changed during our stay.

Local attractions

Thanks to the proximity of the A82, some of Scotland’s most gorgeous scenery is within reach. The tumbling Falls of Dochart at Killin (25 minutes’ drive), the mighty castle at Inveraray (40 minutes) and the photogenic runs of Kilchurn Castle (20 minutes) overlooking Loch Awe all make fascinating day trips. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (10 minutes) has all sorts of watersports on the loch, or you can hike, ride or cycle across seemingly endless hills and glens. If you’re into bagging some serious hills, the mighty munros of Ben Lui and Ben More are both within 20 minutes’ drive. And talking of hills, the peaks of Glencoe (20 minutes) provide challenging hiking and climbing, or in winter you can ski at Glencoe Mountain Resort (half an hour). Beyond Glencoe, Oban (55 minutes) is the gateway to adventures on the Isle of Mull.
