Liked: Location
Disliked: Not much space to pitch, quite humid ground, no control of space, people.. It's better too wild camp than use the campsite.

From the manager: Hi there, thanks for leaving a review. We’re so sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay on our campsite - we’ve had a particularly busy week due to the lovely weather and island events, and we’re sorry we didn’t meet standards this time around. If you have any further feedback, please email us directly and we’ll do everything we can to act upon it and improve. Thanks again for staying with us.
Excellent site with level pitches and a phenomenal view.

Liked: The views and the constant breeze that kept the midgies away! Only a short walk from the ferry port and the staff in the bunkhouse were super friendly and helpful. The shop on the island, just a 5 min walk from the campsite, was really well stocked so we felt we were definitely not going to go hungry (or thirsty!)
Sawdust toilets were well maintained and cleaned regularly.
Disliked: There were a few pitches unusable due to boggy terrain!

Liked: Stunning views over to the sea.
Shelter hut available to sit, eat your meals and watch birds (binoculars available).
Cooking tables and wooden chairs availabe for use (free-of-charge).
The two compost toilets are not ideal, but those were well kept and clean.
Warm water in the shower.
Extremely friendly staff.
Disliked: Some people statying at the campsite were very noisy and talked out loud until well after midnight, disrupting everyone's sleep.
The staff don't check whether you have a booking, which means anyone can turn up and pitch a tent for free. That might explain why it was so busy, with tents less than 2 meters apart from each other.
Showers are a bit far from the pitch.
There is only one normal toilet (non-compost), next to the showers. However, it was very smelly and there was a big puddle of water at the entrance formed by a leak coming from the toilet itself (quite disgusting).

Liked: The location is stunning, just at the sea with amazing views across to the mainland. Nice flat grassy pitches, bbqs, cold-water washing-up facilities, device charging station in a wooden chalet that can be used for respite from the weather. Nice wooden chairs provided. There's much to like here, however...
Disliked: ...it fell somewhat apart with the shower/toilet facilities, which were about 300m (a goodly distance, especially in the middle of the night) from the pitches. A code, gotten from the bunkhouse reception, was needed to access the showers. But the hours that the bunkhouse is staffed are limited and vary, and I wish I'd known all this when I made the booking. We arrived on the early morning ferry, dropped our kit at the campsite, and headed to the hills for a very long walk. By the time we returned, there was no one at the bunkhouse to provide a shower code. I found that one of them was open anyway (no lock or latch on the door), and then found, much to my dismay, that there was NO HOT WATER. Call me a princess, but I'm not a fan of icy -- and I do mean icy -- showers. Shivering, I managed to slake off at least the first layer of dirt, so felt a bit less grotty, but I had really been looking forward to some hot, or at least warm, water. Didn't ruin the experience, by any means, but it would have made it a five star review, rather than four

Liked: Everything about this low-key campsite. Whether this is you main base in Rum or used during a trip with bothie and other camping, this is a very lovely spot to use and to support the community. The new toilets will be a bonus when they come on-line (which will be very soon I am sure).
Disliked: Nothing. Precautions would be necessary in midge season.
