  • Well-maintained caravan site on the shores of Loch Alsh
  • Isle of Skye 10 minutes’ drive; an hour to Loch Ness
  • Railway station, supermarkets and pubs within five minutes' drive
Tick off sights along the North Coast 500, sail (or drive) over the sea to Skye and experience some of the very best scenery in the Highlands at Reraig Caravan and Camping, a well-maintained and thoroughly peaceful location on the shores of lovely Loch Alsh. Set on over two acres of tree-lined grounds within easy walking distance of the water's edge, this is a great spot for overnight stops or longer holidays in a very special part of Scotland. With spacious pitches served by well-maintained amenities – including a smart toilet and shower block, washing-up areas and chemical waste disposal points – you're in good hands here from a practical point of view. And when it comes to food, there's a restaurant and bar next door to the site to fill you up when you're feeling hungry; supermarkets, pubs and restaurants can also be reached in Kyle of Lochalsh within a five-minute drive, so you won't be short on off-site or self-catering options either. Balmacara’s village convenience store is also just opposite the site on the A87. Dogs are welcome at Reraig Caravan and Camping, but please make sure to keep them on their leads and well-behaved at all times.

What customers say

A tidy, welcoming site ideal for Skye/Highlands. Facilities generally clean, praised by many. Food van and SPAR popular. Some found facilities dated, WiFi patchy. Still a top spot, most would revisit.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Great set up, very clean and well laid out. Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Facilities were excellent clean and showers were lovely and hot. Location is excellent for travelling to Skye and the outer Hebrides. This was our 4 time at Reraig and the standard has always been maintained. Now there is an added bonus of a catering van on site with an excellent chef with local menu and local food, absolutely fantastic. 100 % recommended this site.

Disliked Absolutely nothing to not like. (Except the weather)

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Clean site with simple layout. All site amenities close by and very clean. Short walking distance to a small supermarket with everything you need. The standout was Jinty’s food van. Restaurant quality food at reasonable prices which was open for breakfast and evening meal. Outstanding. For anyone planning a trip to the highlands and further still, this is a perfect layover for overnight or longer.

Disliked Nothing to dislike. With 4 young Children under 10, a small play park, swings etc. would have been perfect.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Liked immediately on arrival. First impression it was a beautifully small, well maintained site. Lovely helpful warden explained everything to us. Felt secure and cared for.
Amazing food van on site "Jintys". Food was quality and fresh. Even served breakfast rolls and hit drinks.
Spar shop less than 5 minutes walk away.
Next door to very welcoming Balmacara hotel where we enjoyed a pint at the bar.
Close to the loch and other amenities.
On site showers, toilets, scullery were all spotless.

Disliked Nothing. Couldn't fault it.

Local attractions

Locally, there's lots to see and do, from the National Trust for Scotland's network of Loch Alsh woodland and lochside walks (a couple of minutes' drive) to the spectacular grounds of Attadale Gardens (20 minutes) or the impressive sight of Eilean Donan Castle (five minutes), one of the most iconic fortresses on Scotland's west coast. Driving over to the Isle of Skye can be done in about 10 minutes, but it will take about an hour to get to the island's biggest town of Portree, and a little longer still to get to more remote spots. The drive is well worth the effort, though – and if you need respite from being behind the wheel, you can head out birdwatching or in search of whales and dolphins aboard one of the many tourist cruises that leave from the island's main harbours. Further afield, day trips into the interior are also on the cards – you'll be able to reach Loch Ness in about an hour without too much trouble, and if monster-hunting doesn't appeal you could always go cycling along the Caledonian Canal (an hour) or hiking along the Five Sisters of Kintail (30 minutes), a spectacular ridge walk high up in the mountains.
