  • Dog-friendly site under a mile from the southern shore of Loch Lomond
  • A five-minute drive to the John Muir Way; 10 minutes from Balloch
  • Restaurants and shops 10 minutes’ drive away; walk to a nature reserve
If Loch Lomond is in your near future, no need to look any further for a relaxing, dog-friendly site on its southern shores. Under a mile from the loch’s shores and 10 minutes’ drive away from Balloch, the well-presented Lagganbeg Caravan Park prides itself on its peaceful vibes and top location in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Birdwatchers, gather. The site is a short 15 minutes’ walk away from RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond, where you might spot an osprey or white-tailed sea eagle over the water. Hikers, arm yourself with a trusty pair of walking shoes too. The site is around five minutes’ drive away from the 134-mile John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar. You’ll have your pick of a host of hiking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities in the local area too, including the likes of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and the National Cycle Route 7. A lighter 20-minute stroll is all it takes to get to the shore of Scotland's largest freshwater loch. Ogle over the surrounding munros for a while or take a gander at nearby Balloch (10 minutes’ drive) or Drymen (10 minutes), where there are restaurants and shops. Cities like Stirling (40 minutes) and Glasgow (50 minutes) are only a day trip away, as is Argyll and Bute. Plus, there are handy bus and train services from Balloch and Stirling. Lagganbeg Caravan Park is a family-run site, so it’s been very lovingly tended to facilities-wise. The toilet and shower block has rainfall showers and a family wet room, which is accessible for disabled guests. There’s also a laundry room with large-capacity washers, dryers and irons, all coin-operated, and hand-washing sinks and an indoor drying area.

What customers say

This lovely site's a peaceful spot, a stroll from Loch Lomond. Guests rave about the spotless, modern facilities, sound staff, and roomy, flat pitches. Great for exploring, but mind the limited on-site bits and patchy Wi-Fi now and then.

Conic View electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked Wide and busy campsite with lots of facilities and quiet pitch. Friendly reception desk and nothing too much trouble. Showers and facilities clean and well kept.

Disliked Nothing - it was a family site so expect kids running around. However we were in a pitch that had only 2 kids in the corner so was quiet.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. You have stated that the camping area is too small which I would like to address.
Our camping field is approx. 150m x 100m (15000 metres square). We only take 20 tents on any 1 night, this means each tent has the equivalent of 750 metres square plus your parking space. I have been told by our authorites and our governing body that the average tent pitch in Scotland is around 40 metres square plus parking space. As you can see we give far more than the average. We always try to give more space than is reccommended to allow our customers some privacy etc, which when you are staying in a tent is hard to get.
I hope this answers your comment and helps our future guests make an informed decision.

Generally very good.

Liked Location to Loch Lomond

Disliked Recommend being more flexible on accepting earlier check ins.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We clearly state on all your information and correspondence that Check in is from 3pm. This allows us to check out previous guests, clean the facilities and carry out maintenance, grass cutting and staff breaks. You did arrive more than 2 hours early, we did explain that check in was from 3pm and that we couldn't accomodate you earlier on this occasion. Had you contacted us prior to your stay we may have been able to sort this for you as early check in and late check out is by prior arrangement only.

Tall Pines electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Good showers good toilets peaceful place and ran by lovely people.

Stayed in tall pines with electric hookup.

Good price too.

Accommodated us last minute too after we wouldn't make it to our original reservation in time due to a personal matter. We arrived at 7.30pm and most camp sites dont allow this.

Disliked Nothing. Everything was as stated.

Tall Pines electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked The staff couldn’t have been nicer. The facilities were clean and well maintained. 10 minute walk to the beach. Very dog friendly. A bbq was arranged for the Saturday night with lots of choice. Very quiet after 10pm, had a great night sleep and would have stayed an extra night had I not had to come home for work. Ample pitch size.

Disliked Nothing! Would stay again

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Excellent location. Lovely wee site. The field for the tents is directly adjacent to the toilet/shower/laundry/dishwashing area, so very handy. Plenty electric hook up points. There was a nice atmosphere around, all the campers were very nice groups or families, everyone chatted to each other in the passing, just a very pleasant experience.

Disliked Car parking is a squeeze.

Local attractions

This is a central base indeed… set your sights on historic Stirling (40 minutes’ drive), a city with historic credentials like a castle, The National Wallace Monument and The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (45 minutes). The latter is based on a medieval battle location, which some of you might recognise from the film Braveheart. Of course, Glasgow (50 minutes) has more historic attractions, especially museums and impressive architecture. There are shops and theatres for those seeking a simpler kind of entertainment. Those who haven’t already tasted enough whisky in the city bars can pay a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery (20 minutes), which runs tours and tastings (including of their tasty single malt whisky). Perhaps you’re an animal fan too. There are 300-plus creatures at the Blair Drummond Safari Park (35 minutes), including giraffes and lions, and hands-on activities with the farm animals at Briarlands Farm (35 minutes).
