  • Small and peaceful park a few steps from the beach
  • Spectacular sea views over to Jura and Islay
  • Wildlife and birdwatching haven
It's only a few steps from your accommodation to the beaut beach of Muasdale Holiday Park on the west coast of Kintyre: your dog will surely be delighted. As will scenery seekers: 'perfect', 'stunning' and 'beautiful' are just a few of the plaudits piled on the spectacular sea scenery from this park – now under new ownership – along with an observation from one chuffed former guest wondering who would need a telly when pitching up here…? Muasdale is a small, peaceful and family-run park midway between Tarbert and Campbeltown, and in a coastal locale of splendid scenery, right on the beach with striking vistas over to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. The ferries are a short drive from the site for days of island-hopping; you can even get over to Ballycastle and Northern Ireland for the day via the Isle of Islay. As you might reckon, this is wildlife and birdwatching heaven, with seals, otters and springtime nesting birds on the beach, more seals in the surrounding waters, and many a seabird overhead. It's fishing land too, so bring your kit with you. Supplies can be picked up at two large supermarkets in Campbeltown or at the village shop in Muasdale, which is well stocked with essentials. The local bus stop 100 yards from the site runs to Campbeltown and Tarbert Taynloan to meet up with the Gigha ferry, or Kennacraig to meet up with the Islay ferry; this is also the main bus to Glasgow. And then there are the sunsets around here: take a minute now and sigh happily over those site pics...

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked: The view. Jeez if you don’t like that, then you are dead in the heart. Weather was “iffy” but even at that what a site. Awesome shower and dish washing facilities. Excellent. Water pressure in the hand basins could be better but that’s a very minor point.

Disliked: Having to leave. 🤣 Signage from road could be better. We nearly missed this little haven because of that. We will be back!!

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked: What a stunning place to stay. Loved the peace and quiet, Backed onto beach and sea-a great view to wake up to Warm welcome, with a quick check that everything was ok part way through my stay. Really good loo and shower facility- modern, spacious and clean. Seeing a colony of seals on rocks nearby and playing in the sea just off-shore.

Disliked: I couldn’t find where to drop my grey water so took it with me and unloaded at my next site. (I didn’t ask as I left early, but there was nowhere obvious for a camper van) Not an issue for me but the WiFi wouldn’t access the Internet. These were minor issues and did not detract from my stay. Loved the place.

Liked: Right by the sea. Open views. Great location. Toilets and showers were immaculate.

Disliked: Lack of signage as to my allocated pitch. Needs a notice board on entry. I had set up on a pitch before having to move. Beach was quite smelly, not in a good way.

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked: A truly wonderful spot to totally unwind, with only nine pitches (all with EHU) it is magically quiet, the location directly on the beach is outstanding and the sunsets even more so, within easy reach of Campbeltown for supermarkets, shops and restaurants this little piece of heaven needs to be booked in advance to benefit from all a stay here has to offer. We stayed for five nights with our dog who loved the walks on the beach as much as we did. The facilities were spotless and very modern, good recycling and waste disposal facilities too. Judith the site warden is a dear and can not do enough to make your stay even better than it already is. In the area check out Linda McCartney's bronze statue in the memorial garden in Campbeltown, Southend Beach, Westport Beach, or simply just go for a drive around this amazing part of Scotland, oh and there is a small shop in the village if you run out of essentials and is run by a very friendly lady

Disliked: Having to leave

Liked: Friendly welcome. Small clean site with excellent facilities. Level pitches only yards from the sea. Amazing sunsets.

Disliked: Great facilities but not quite enough of them. A little too near the road for traffic noise, though this wasn't a huge problem.

Local attractions

Get ready to go a-sailing… and along to Campbeltown for regular boat trips to Ailsa Craig, Sanda Island and around the peninsula for wildlife and whale watching. On damp days, take the kids to seek refuge at the small soft play, the swimming pool or the oldest cinema in Scotland. Forest and hill walks are a short distance from the site. A boat also goes to Ballycastle from here via Islay: from there, take a ferry back over water to reach the fab and tiny RSPB reserve of Rathlin Island (here there be puffins). Are you a golfer? And if so, have you ever hit a ball over the Atlantic? If your responses here were first Aye and then a wistful Nay, take the tees to Machrihanish Golf Club above the northern tip of the Mull of Kintyre to try it out. Several other golf courses are in the area once this has whetted your golfing whistle: try Carradale and Dunaverty to start things off. This is also whisky land, with the two distilleries of Glen Scotia and Springbank in Campbeltown. Both have gift shops (huzzah) and run regular tours.
