Pod with private parking

  • Family holiday park with spectacular Loch Lomond views at Ardlui
  • Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park access from the pitches
  • Bar, restaurant and entertainment throughout the year at Ardlui Hotel
Up at the northernmost tip of Loch Lomond, Ardlui Holiday Home Park is a small site with a range of accommodation, all overlooking the water. That’s right – the park has a fabulous location in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, making it easy for walkers, cyclists, photographers and wildlife watchers alike to get out on the hills directly from the pitches, or to get down to the loch for watersports and fishing. This site is also a handy overnighter for anyone ‘doing’ the West Highland Way, which runs along the east side of the loch between Fort William and Milngavie. The walking route is accessed via a ferry from Ardlui Marina, which is only five minutes’ walk away. Kids and dogs are welcome at this friendly site, and there are plenty of facilities to make life comfortable and convenient for all guests – you'll have the use of a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets and showers. The Ardlui Hotel is a few steps away too, serving homemade food in the cosy restaurant and a plethora of whiskies – just what you need as a pick-me-up after a day out in the bracing Scottish air – and beers in the welcoming pub. In the pub, you’re welcome to play pool, fire up the jukebox or warm up by the log stove in the winter. There are also lively entertainment nights throughout the year in the hotel.

What customers say

Grand spot with lovely loch views, staff are a doddle to deal with. Showers are top-notch. Touring spots get the thumbs up, especially those near the water. The pub's a good shout, though a bit pricey for some. Pitches can be tight, and a few grumbles about noise, water, and upkeep. Grand for a night or two, but maybe not for a long haul.

Electric gravel touring pitch (waterside)

Liked Stunning location

Disliked No drinking water, you had to boil it. However we weren't told this on arrival, it was a fellow campervanner who told us.
The cost was more than than a typical pitch elsewhere, however this was probably based on location, unfortunately the facilities don't match the cost.

Camping pod

Liked The scenery is breathtaking

Disliked I didn't like the worn out pod,it was a lot smaller than the pictures.Asked for a upgrade as I bigger pod was lying empty.I was told I needed to pay another £50,that would have been £110.The larger pod is advised at £90,they were trying to rip me off.

Electric gravel touring pitch (waterside)

Liked The lake was lovely and the warden was fantastic could not have been more helpful

Disliked We booked the hotel for dinner and we asked for everything to come out together as some having starters and some not. We ordered Cajun wings which were completely burnet. 2 steak pies were not even look warm the carrots were mouldy on the chicken braemar and the sauce was cold on both braemars the drinks also came in dribs and drabs and the food did not all come together and we had to ask how long it would be. When confronting staff about the cold food we were looked at like we were lying and as I pointed out reheated food must be at a minimum of 82.6 C to kill bacteria. They microwaved the steak pie but still came back cold no apology for mouldy carrots. They did take the cost of the meals off the bill but not really helpful when you are in such a remote location. We also wanted to hire a boat the next day but were bluntly told we couldn’t as no one was there. Very remote roads not suitable for walking

Local attractions

There’s a lot to get stuck into within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park if you’re a keen hiker, climber or cyclist. If you’d rather take a scenic drive, the Rest and Be Thankful Viewpoint (half an hour’s drive) is a fine spot to pull over. There are also boat cruises on Loch Lomond (35 minutes) for explorations that don’t require much walking. Can’t relate? Don’t worry, just don a pair of hiking boots (or skis if it’s winter) and set about the Glencoe (40 minutes) slopes. Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (an hour) is also a handy spot for a good ramble or some biking. There’s also the stunning hike at Ben A'an (an hour and 10 minutes) for views over Loch Katrine and Loch Achray. Ben More (20 minutes) is a slightly more local spot, and a challenging climb if you really want to get the blood pumping. While you're here, you may fancy checking out some of the nearby castles. Dumbarton Castle (40 minutes) is a striking one set on a volcanic rock overlooking the sea. Inveraray Castle (50 minutes) on the shore of Loch Fyne is also spectacular, with huge gardens, a tearoom and castle room tours.
