Hardstanding pitch with electric hookup and grey water disposal

  • Well-kept hardstanding motorhome pitches in the Quantock Hills
  • Five minutes' drive to West Somerset Railway; Minehead 25 minutes
  • Safe and secure adults-only site; dogs welcome
Seeking a bit of kid-free quiet time in the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? The pitches at Red Deer Park are designated for adults only, so they’re pretty peaceful as well as being surrounded by the stunning scenery of this part of Somerset. Although children aren’t allowed on site here, dogs are very welcome to come along and join you as you explore the local area, taking walks through the hills and perhaps stopping off for a drink or meal at one of the numerous country pubs dotted around nearby. For amenities and days out, Taunton (20 minutes’ drive) and Minehead (25 minutes) are close by, and it won’t take long to get to other attractions like Dunster Castle, Blue Anchor beach or the eastern stretches of Exmoor National Park. The West Somerset Railway passes a quarter of a mile away, so you can see the steam trains passing about quarter of a mile away or board one at the station a mile away. Back at base, you’ll be parking your motorhome at a medium-sized park where the hardstanding pitches all have electric hookup and grey water drainage. Access from the main road is straightforward, and each pitch has a car parking space. It’s all been designed with security in mind too – there’s CCTV on site for your safety, and the property is accessed via electric gates.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked We particularly enjoyed eating outside listening to the birds and horses, . Also, watching the red deer in the opposite field ( bring binoculars),
Road noise was minimal.

David and his lovely family were very welcoming and friendly. Always had a wave and a smile. We will definately he back.

Good cycle rides and walks. Bus to Williton/ Minhead/ Taunton nearby.
Also Crowcombe Heathfield train station is close to the site.

Secure, gated site

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Very friendly welcome and local information given which was really useful. Nice large concrete pitch. Nice views and cute, clean shower and toilet. Bus stop nearby to Minehead and Taunton, although short distance by a very busy road. Steam train is nearby. Good wifu.

Disliked The elsan point is a bit high up making it difficult to empty. The site wouldn't be for everyone as pitches are basically bases prepared for statics with cabling so there isn't much grass for awnings. This didn't bother us.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely hosts meet & greet as you enter through secure gated entrance.
Good sized solid hardstandings with well located hook up point.
Secure site with good space all around, peaceful with minimal noise.
Lovely walk to the steam railway down country lane.

Disliked The toilet/shower facilities could do with being upgraded to a portacabin size especially if the site becomes busy.
To dangerous to walk to any shops as main road does not have a footpath, so take anything you may need with you.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Wardens
Area

Disliked Should not really be described as a camping site when infact it is a mobile home site awaiting new units
Toilet facilities poor- only one toilet in a shed and only one shower in a shed too. Both work ok but not very private as right next to wardens accommodation and the toilet door has slatted wood with gaps in…
There is no separate water facility to fill your water tank or wash out your toilet cassette - just one hosepipe and the septic tank is pretty awful too
There are no facilities for dishwashing either
The cost is far too high for this site with these poor facilities

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely welcome from Mark on arrival (met Jan later - lovely people), great site - so very peaceful !
It was very handy location for me to go to the West Somerset Railway at Crowcombe Heathfield station as I had intended to drive to Bishops Lydeard to join the train, however it was just a 15 mins walk to the station - very happy with that !! Also spent a day sitting by my van reading..... lovely and relaxing !

Disliked Absolutely nothing !!!

Local attractions

With the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on one side and Exmoor National Park on the other, you’ll probably not be surprised to hear that there’s some excellent walking to be done around here. Ranscombe Great Wood (15 minutes’ drive) and the gardens of Fyne Court (20 minutes) are some of the Quantock Hills’ best spots to hit, with the Nutcombe Bottom Tall Trees Trail (25 minutes) and Dunkery Beacon (35 minutes) among Exmoor’s top picks. Both these areas run right up to the coast, of course, so you may also like to take in coastal views around places like St Audries Bay Waterfall (15 minutes), Kilve beach (20 minutes) and Blue Anchor beach (25 minutes). Also up at the coast is the cheerful resort of Minehead (25 minutes), where you can hit the beach or walk the first section of the South West Coast Path. Those who’d love to own a dog but have never quite managed may like to book some time at The Golden Retriever Experience (20 minutes). Dogs are welcome (although not compulsory) in the grounds of Dunster Castle (20 minutes), which is home to a working Victorian watermill as well as an ancient castle that was significantly smartened up in the 19th century.
