  • Family-friendly site on a dairy farm in the peaceful Somerset Levels
  • A five-minute drive to the Parrett Cycleway; river watersports nearby
  • Barbecues allowed on site; local pub a mile away
Sit back with an alfresco drink or pick up the pace with river watersports… there are many ways to seize the day at Westover Farm Camping… or simply while it away while admiring the views of the surrounding Somerset Levels. You see, this family-friendly site is on the edge of a family-run dairy farm in a former cider orchard in South Somerset just outside of the historic market town of Langport. Where to first? Shop till you drop at the Clarks Village (25 minutes’ drive)? Outdoor activities in the Somerset Levels? Walks through local farms and woods, where there’s plenty of wildlife to spot? Perhaps you’ll be drawn in by wild swimming or watersports (say, an afternoon kayaking) on the river Parrett, 100 metres away from the site – a nice place for a picnic too, by the way. Further away, you may want to drive to the Dorset coast (an hour’s drive) or up to Bath (an hour and 25 minutes) or Bristol (an hour and 25 minutes). Closer to home is the local pub, a mile away, which has a beer garden where you can nurse a drink or grab a lunch outside. And if you need to stock up on groceries for a barbecue or picnic, there’s a supermarket five minutes’ drive away. Facilities here are at the simpler end of the spectrum, but you'll have access to toilets, showers and a washing-up area.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Clean, spacious, quiet and peaceful. Lots to do in area whether active or sightseeing. Right by river slipway for wild swimming and paddleboard/flat water kayaking- wished we had brought our bathers! Toilet/shower/washing up stand spotless with the added luxury of soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and washing up liquid provided. Friendly owners who welcomed us and our dogs.

Liked: Large pitches, very clean toilet, excellent shower (I’ve had worse hotel showers!). The site is very well located to enjoy the river and very peaceful. Would fully recommend.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely spot on for what I wanted. 1 night between 2 days of agility competitions, peaceful, quiet, perfect place to get a good night's sleep and allow my dog and I to chill out. Walking distance to a launch for paddle boarding on the river Parrett, or a short drive to a launch ramp. Facilities were ideal, though wouldn't be enough if full.

Disliked: Slightly larger signage would be much appreciated, but owner was very helpful on the phone to get me there!

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Lovely rural setting, great size site with just a few tents. Such a relaxing setting. Hosts were super friendly, helpful and interested in making our stay as positive as possible. Loved the little coffee and pastries converted horse box. Shower and toilet extremely clean and they have thought of everything to make it easier for campers. Excellent biking from the door. I would definitely recommend and return!

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked: Idyllic setting and wonderful hosts. Jack and Mel couldn’t do enough for you and were really friendly and approachable. Nice and quiet site with a cosy feel. Lots of animals and birds around which we enjoyed. Facilities are basic but well designed, clean and nicely stocked with washing up towels/soap/sponges and shower supplies also. The whole place has a very charming feel. Morning coffees and pastries are a bonus also. Also very sheltered in bad weather from high hedges on all sides. Safe for children and dogs as all enclosed. Well connected to local towns and attractions.

Disliked: Hot water could have been a little more reliable but overall was very good. Shower door lock is a little difficult to lock securely but achievable with a bit of determination. Neither issue worth losing a star over and wouldn’t stop us coming back.
