  • One kitted out bell tent available , in 5 acre field in sleepy village
  • we have one compost toilet and a fire pit, also a cold water tap.
  • There is a field shelter providing space to cook , utensils provided
We have a 5 metre bell tent for hire, supplied with double bed , and bedding; situated in small Somerset village back lanes. If you wish to bring your own bedding it is slightly cheaper to camp with us. . We have a small strip of woodland which houses the compost toilet . There is a tap with cold water. Also we have some chairs and a table provided in a field shelter, for your comfort. We can accept extra tents , but we are limited due to compost loo facilities. No dogs unfortunately as they have to be under strict control due to the farm. And older children only at our discretion due to rustic terrain. It is a site in a field off the lane leaving the village , with a working farm opposite and right adjacent to us, another farm which although not pretty is a part of this rural countryside! This is an area of farms and rewilding land. Heal Somerset is nearby and there are four or five rewilding projects in the village. Parking is on the verge outside of field unless very dry, only then is access allowed with a car. This is a site suitable for nature lovers and wildlife explorers/walkers. There are nesting birds in the field shelters and we appreciate those who allow the birds space at nesting time & don't mind sharing with them , and probably a Kite or two on the tent pole!

Local attractions

We have no local shop, the nearby town of Frome (5- 6 miles) can provide you with Sainsburys, butchers, an organic grocery store , and all your food needs. There is a very pretty cobbled street called Catherine Hill with many independent shops, inc. vintage clothing, and just about anything you need. There really is no need to go to a large town! There are quite a few pubs, and our favourite drinking spots are Lottes wine bar (and restaurant) and Palmer Street Bottle. Our own village has one traditional pub serving real somerset cider and Cheddar ales, also a decent wine, (in the wine box) and only a five minutes walk from the camping field, and in the summer alternate weekends of a visiting pizza van or fish and chips. There is no food, otherwise... Only pickled eggs in a bag of crisps, which is the prize in any village competition! The Duke of Somerset's land , where there are many peaceful walks possible - is just up the lane, and walkers will love this area. The Deverills are close by too, for walking. Frome has artisanal shopping and markets on certain days, but Bath is 40 minutes away, and the small cathedral town of Wells is 30 minutes. Hauser and Wirth art gallery is situated in the town of Bruton nearby, a town famous for its celebrity attraction and two restaurants. There is a falconry near there also, in PItcombe which offers exceptional bird experiences. Longleat is near , as is Stourhead , a National Trust property.. which includes St Alfred's Tower and woodland walks. A drive to the lovely Dorset is only one and a half hours drive, suitable for a trip to the coast for the day.
