Jurassic bell tent (basic, five person)

Liked: We loves the bell tents and the fact we didn't have to put up any beds! We loved our fire in the evening and toasting marshmallows. The size of the property gave us a feeling of safety and we could allow our children the freedom to run and be children.

Disliked: It's not even really a dislike and it's not something that could or should be changed but I do recommend good shoes for late evening kitchen or toilet visits as we found there was a LOT of slugs about and trust me stepping on a big one in flip flops doesn't feel good lol! Maybe the play area could do with something for slightly older children, my 3 year old absolutely loved it 😀

Dorset Emperor bell tent (deluxe, four person)

Liked: Location was great, car is definitely needed. Tent was clean, welcoming and large. Site overall was spotless, including toilets. Hosts were brilliant with communication and very helpful.

Disliked: The slugs. No fault of the hosts but they were everywhere, including in the tent. I have never seen so many when camping.

Jurassic bell tent (basic, five person)

Liked: The site was really clean and well maintained. The toilets were clean and are compost based using a sawdust and stocked with good toilet paper. The showers were great and clean and the water was hot. The bell tents were huge. We stayed in a Jurassic bell tent complete with fairy lights, bunting and inside laid with a giant colourful rug and entrance mat. It was peaceful and quite situated back from the road but not busy or noisy at all. The owners stopped by and were welcoming and friendly. They provided excellent emails in the run up to our break which had loads of information for the local area aswell as a list of what to bring. In the kitchen area there are lots of sockets for charging and mirrors with a long basin for washing hands, brushing teeth, getting ready and sockets nearby for doing your hair etc. We visited the small coop shop which had everything we needed for a bbq including coals and marshmallows. We visited Bournemouth and Poole both were not far at all 10minutes to Poole and about 20-25 to Bournemouth. We would definitely visit again

Disliked: There isn’t anything we didn’t like about Dorset glamping fields.

Local attractions

Dorset’s brilliant combo of coast and countryside means you won’t be short on outdoorsy activities. Footpaths and cycle routes crisscross the county, just pick the sights you want to ogle at and get plotting. Corfe Castle (20 minutes’ drive), Old Harry Rocks (30 minutes), Lulworth Cove (30 minutes) and Durdle Door (35 minutes) are some of the top spots to aim for. To get out on the water, check out canoe and boat hire options in Poole (10 minutes) and Wareham (15 minutes). Lessons, tours and trips for sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding can be arranged all along the coast as well as coasteering and rock climbing to make the most of the area’s imposing cliffs. Searches show up plenty of options in Swanage, Lulworth and Studland Bay. To keep the kids happy (and anyone else who fancies a slightly less energetic day out), animal entertainments are on hand at Monkey World (20 minutes’ drive) or Sea Life Centre Weymouth (40 minutes).
