With a location just outside the Dorset National Landscape and only a mile from the Jurassic Coast, it's easy to see why one might want to settle here for quite some time… and that’s just what the family that runs Tatton Farm Campsite have done. The fourth generation runs this working dairy farm, and the fifth generation is rapidly falling in love with farm life too. Plenty of guests have found themselves rather fond of the place, too – there’s been a campsite successfully running here for more than 40 years. And what is it that’s kept the site so popular throughout that time? Well, perhaps the laidback atmosphere, the generous pitches and the fact that they’re surrounded by 450 acres of farmland… It’s all quite simple here – pitches are all on grass without electric, and there is a sustainable toilet and shower block that saves a whopping 2.5 tonnes of CO2 every year. You may also be pleased to hear that the field is flat and accessible for those with mobility issues, and the toilets and showers are fully wheelchair accessible. There is also an ileostomy station designed by a family member who has a colostomy bag. With few distractions, guests can properly relax – waking up to birdsong and spotting the dairy herd passing by each morning and evening are the norm here. The pitches back onto woodland, so there’s wildlife to look out for too, and you may catch a glimpse of the wild deer that live here. Of course, the farm’s location helps with making it an attractive place to stay – it’s about a 15-minute drive to Weymouth’s town centre and beach, and there are rural footpaths running from the farm to the likes of Abbotsbury, Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Hardy Monument (or to Weymouth, in fact).

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
  • Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • Electric pitches: Electricity is metered on site at £0.31 per kWh and must be paid by debit/credit card via the website link/QR code provided on site.

This lovely, quiet farm has great pitches & spotless facilities with a new shower block. Vicky and Rich, the hosts, are super friendly, sharing farm fun like milking. A peaceful rural spot, yet close to sights. Unisex loos and small cubicles were minor notes.

Liked Soon as I arrived I met Vicky. She was honestly amazing! Had a chat and giggle and she made me feel so welcome. Pitches were very spacious. Facilities were so clean and lovely. I honestly can’t wait to come back and bring friends that time too. Best experience especially for my partners first camping experience. Thank you so much Tatton Farm

Liked Vicky greeted us and was so welcoming and was very informative of places to visit in the local area. The pitch site was really spacious, the shower and toilet block was very good spotless was cleaned regularly and a very good wash station . Having spoken with Vicky we was allowed to walk across the fields having got to the top was greeted with stunning views.

Disliked That we did not book longer, will definitely book a return visit.

Liked Think we have stumbled on a gem of a campsite,from the minute we got there it felt like home from home the hospitality from vicky and rich were outstanding,having poor mobility the toilets and showers were amazing and very well thought out and there was no issues showering,the added pot wash station was perfect for cleaning our stuff,we will definitely 100% be returning to tatton farm in fact we didn't want to leave, vicky was attentive always making sure amenities were clean and tidy and there's a shed of all things you may have forgot very well thought out site missing it already 😀

Liked Friendly owners! Nice field with trees around the borders, good to have some shade. Fantastic new shower and toilet block. No traffic noise at all but easy to access from main coastal road.

It’s really worth bringing your walking shoes along for a stay here, as you can set off on foot for lots of local attractions, take in some of the Jurassic Coast’s top scenery on a hike along the South West Coast Path, or do a circuit of the nearby Isle of Portland. If you’d rather head straight to the beach, get down to Weymouth’s family-friendly stretch to see if you can build sandcastles that will rival the displays at Sandworld sand sculpture park. Also in town are the Sea Life Centre, Pirate Adventure Mini Golf and a harbour for fishing or wildlife-spotting boat trips. For leisurely days out nearby, try a visit to Bennetts Water Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes), RSPB Lodmoor (15 minutes) or Hardys Cottage (25 minutes) or set off to explore the ghost village of Tyneham (45 minutes). If you’re after something livelier for the kids, the likes of Monkey World (half an hour) and Dorset Adventure Park (40 minutes) are likely to hit the spot.
