  • Wild camping site with 32 acres of wildflower meadows and woodland
  • In the Purbeck Hills; Jurassic Coast 10 minutes’ drive
  • Firepits for hire and wood for sale; honesty shop with local produce
There are 32 acres of wildflower meadows and woodlands to explore at Threshold Farm in the Purbeck Hills. It doesn’t get much ‘wilder’ than this; the wild camping is on walk-on pitches in a three-acre wildflower meadow only accessible by paths mowed into waist-high grass. The site is kept simple to reduce the impact on nature and keep things nice and peaceful. There are two snazzy composting toilets, a washing-up area with biodegradable soap, a fresh water tap and firepits to hire for an additional fee (bags of firewood are also for sale). If you don’t want to carry your belongings to the pitch, grab one of the wheelbarrows or pay a small fee for the quad-bike shuttle service. At the honesty shop, get your hands on a variety of fresh, local produce. When you’re out exploring, there are plenty of places to eat out too. Jurassic Coast locations like Swanage Bay and the Dancing Ledge are only 10 minutes away by car, and famed Durdle Door is half an hour’s drive away too. The historic market town of Wareham is 20 minutes' drive away. This is a leave-no-trace site, so guests are given a bag for general waste and recycling. You’re welcome to bring along your barbecue or firepit, but it must be kept well off the ground, 'on legs’. This is a peaceful site with just the occasional whistle of the Swanage steam train in the distance and all of the usual wildlife sounds. Guests are asked not to play music and to keep noise to a minimum, especially after 9pm. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site as long as they’re kept on a lead. There are many four- and two-legged animals nearby, like deer with fawns, ground-nesting birds, rabbits and lizards.
